Actually, some Chinese railroads ran steam in regular service until about a year ago. Branch lines and industries are still using some that were built in the late '80s. (The fanfic lightbulb went on when I randomly correlated Chinese steam ops with the cultural blend of Firefly. )

Here in the States, there are about 150 operating steam engines run mostly as tourist attractions. The one I work on is 81 years old and still runnin' like a champ.

Believe me when I say you don't wanna be killin' folk for my job. The world of classic railroading needs everybody it can nab who knows go-se about steam engines.

This plastics plant you work at....it isn't in Warminster, PA perchance, is it? 'Cuz I deliver resin-loaded rail cars there twice a week......

Ninja.

And I moonlight as a biomedical engineer making cool implantables in the medical industry.

Nobody suspects that I'm really a ninja.
