Unloading the Lassiter

Dear FF fans,

Maybe somebody already wrote a fan-fic about Mal unloading the lassiter, but I just spent a weekend with the flu watching FF and thinking what a shame it was that ole Mal never got to sell off this hard earned prize.

How can JW not come back to this story line after WW? For our sense of Mal's worth as a smuggler, if for nothing else.

If anybody knows of a fan-fic with this subject, I'm so down with it.

The third episode of our virtual series is about the sale of the Lassiter. Here's a brief summary for the episode (titled "Property Rights"):

The crew tries to sell the Lassiter on Kaylee's home planet, but the auction is complicated when Mal accidentally kills a local woman.

While it's not strictly canon, the novelization of the movie has a passing reference to the Lassiter, and how the sale of it funded the purchase of the new mule.
