Didn't see it the 1st week, so I have no idea how much I'm behind. Was last night's showing ( Oct 2nd ) a repeat of the premier ? I'm guessing not, because I have no clue what the hell is going on. All I know is that it looks wicked good. Way early to tell for sure, but still. Kinda like Lost, John Doe and X-Men all rolled into one. ( Hope those more caught up to speed don't take offense if I'm way off base on that )
Good stuff
People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

No, it's a pretty good log line description of the show.
I noticed that Cybersnark had decided to give the characters codenames, even though I'm not sure if the show has them in mind or if they will give them names. He named the painter who paints the future The Prophet and the indistructable cheerleader Cheerverine. I want to get in on this one, so here are my names for the "heroes".
Hiro = "Super-Hiro", since this monkiter was given to him by his co-worker.
Claire, the cheerleader = "Buffy 2.0", since she looks and has some of the same powers as Buffy from almost a decade ago.
Niki, the split personality = "Dual", becasue she has a split personality *duh*
Issac, the painter = "The Prophet", since Cybersnark beat me to the punch
Matt, the telepathic beat cop = "Listen", since he's the only one listening to the little girl at the crime scene
Peter and Nathan Petrelli, the flying brothers = "The Flying Petrelli's", becaue I can't think of a really cool name for these two.
Any other codenames you guys can think of? I think this could be fun.

"Why's that?"
"You work in television."

I have to say I like Hiro the best. A bit of a sci fi, manga, fantasy geek in a dead end cubicle. He's a little overweight and just the least likely "hero" of the group.

You forgot the Profs Son from India. We could call him "Cabbie" because he drives a cab while not...

"...continuing his fathers research. His father was kind of a hero. Being able to write a program to tell if you have extra evolved genes aka special powers. Kind of cool."
