Just stopped by the site to see if anything new was up during my extended absence from lurking behind the scenes.
Good to see Browncoats pulling through. I'm off to rally my friends to support this noble and truly worthy cause.
Or, at least, I will when they're awake. Can't recruit when it's a quarter after 5 in the morning... I really should get sleep.

Yes! I actually have as my mission tonight to convert two friends, both House fans, into Firefly fanatics. I'm even going to loan them my only box copy of the show.

So this is from one of their instant surveys.
One of my sociology classes looked at the response so many people have to the question, "What type of music do you listen to?" The majority would respond with "Anything really, except country/rap." Of course these are two genres of music which arose out of a lower socio-economic group than, say, teen pop.
Anyways, point being, people are really proud to say they don't like country or rap music, and apparently equally as proud to say they won't watch Science Fiction or Western shows.
Why? What are the stereotypes and how can we overcome them?
