Favorite ep? Serenity was excellent, but I'd have to say my fav was Ariel, the one where they break into the hospital.
Reason why? I'd have to say it's cause of a little game called "Shadowrun."
Favorite character? Toss up between Jayne and Mal.

I'd have to say my favorite episode is War Stories because Wash got to play such a big part and it was so funny, so obviously my favorite character is Wash. Though I do think Badger kicks butt as well. I do agree that Out Of Gas is an awesome episode. I swear I was about in tears because the ending was just like he'd died and his perspective on Heaven would to be with all his crew. That's what it was like anyway, ovbiously he didn't actually die.

whoa...good perspective. I hadn't thought of it that way, but now that you mention it...yeah. I've always thought that Mal wanted to create a family, not just a crew. He certainly gives them that kind of loyalty.
Badger is just the weasley kind of baddie any space drama needs. With better fits, he could have been doing exactly what he does in Down Below on Babylon 5.
