Sanctions are not only ineffective, they're cruel. Look at what happened with the '93-'97 campaign in Iraq. Iran is not only no threat, but we will do nothing about them. We can't. This is way out of our league presently. Iran is a Germany, with twice the population of pre-wwii non-jewish germany. Plus, they have pakistan china and russia as allies. This is a holy hell of a bad idea. We got our ass kicked in Afghanistan. We're getting our ass kicked in Iraq, what makes us think...?
Our president is twice the moron it takes to do something like this, and dick cheney is not genius, but I don't think the people in our military are *that* dumb.

i dont believe the American public could objectively reach a consensus and choose to pre-emptively attack Iran as it is.. which is why i fear the next terrorist attack(real or orchestrated) that is being threatened down our necks. the current anti-islamic bigotry being fueled by the neo-cons would then be inflamed and fostered to attack Iran and go full swing into the global war on terror until it escalates into ww3. that is my prediction, but i hope im wrong

This is a distinct possibility. But I don't think that this is likely. The US knows it can't win a war with Iran without the backing of Pakistan. Bush has right now gone to meet with Musharraf to discuss the situation. If he can patch things up, maybe they'll continue. If not, I think this war is over. Pack up our toys and go home.
