Bestbuy.com is still showing a release date of Dec 9, and an estimated delivery of Dec 9-19, based on free ground delivery. Up to ten days for delivery is normal for ground, so no one should panic just yet. If you want it sooner, you can always pay for next-day...

Uh-huh, Just like they had the Playstation2 Network Adaptor "In Stock", and once they had my MONEY... took 90+ days to get it to me.

Wouldn't trust BestBuy's word if I were you, they have a bad, bad rep for that kinda thing.

Amazon is being screwy. On the main page for the Firefly DVD, there are a few reviews and a link to read all 44 customer reviews.

However, when I click to read all reviews, the page says, "No customer reviews exist."

I hope they get it together soon.

Something is definately screwy. Here are the results from the last four days out of my real-time Firefly DVD tracker.

8.25.2003: 7056
8.24.2003: 1339
8.23.2003: 380
8.22.2003: 159
8.21.2003: 162

Whatever Amazon did caused the Firefly DVD rankings to drop into the thousands.

Any idea as to what other DVDs rank that low?

I read on their site that the ranking is out of the top 10,000 DVD's sales. I guess we are still on the list even though it was available for just a day and a half.

I wonder why Frunk is seeing a 2004 shipping date. Talk about messing with your mind....

Okay, everyone chill...

The DVD's are being released nationally on Dec 9. The only advantage I see to ordering it from amazon.com is that you may save a few bucks. So, a man's got a choice: physically go to Media Play or Sam Goody (or wherever) and get it on Dec. 9, or order it online and wait a week (or months, depending on when you got on the pre-order list). Somehow I don't forsee people lining up outside the door to buy 'em, after all it ain't like they're WWF tickets or anything. :sarcasm emoticon:

Um... I think it's pretty lame of you to tell us to "chill." Good hell.

The Firefly DVD is very important! If I suddenly got a message from Amazon saying my pre-order DVD wouldn't be shipped until June 2004 I would be way pissed off, and you would have no right telling me to chill.

Frunk had this happen to her/him, and it is worth looking into and discussing. Maybe Amazon knows something you don't? Fortunately, the 2004 shipping date seems to be an isolated incident and likely a glitch.

But please don't tell us to "chill", being excited about Firefly is cool. Discussions about the DVD's should be welcomed, not discouraged.

Oh jeez, Tash. Before you go trying to knock my dick into the dirt, read the rest of my post. I'm saying "chill" cos even though amazon.com is being stupid about it, there's plenty other places to get the DVD's. And on the actual day they come out, even.

Edit: Where I come from "chill" doesn't mean "SIDDOWN AND SHADDAP!". It means "Take a breath, don't freak out". Amazon.com won't charge you until the discs are being shipped. You can still cancel your order at any time up to that point, say like on Dec 10th after you've gotten ahold of a copy from one of their competitors.

Just to provide some more info, it's still reporting a June delivery date. It might have changed due to my trying to order another copy (which it didn't allow). When I first ordered in July it did display a Dec. delivery date. Since I tried to change my order it may have updated the delivery to the new cowardly date of June 2004.

I'm hoping to get it in Dec., and if I don't I'll probably cancel the order (like Lerxst says).
