I believe, sadly, that that project was scrubbed when Warner Bros. decided to move forward with a Superman-only movie. It's too bad. I was really excited at the prospect of seeing the World's Finest on the live-action screen.

Are you reading the current de facto WORLD’S FINEST™ title?
It's up to 3 issues & I obtained my copies last Saturday night, but have yet to read them.
I loved their book together in the 1970's, which always hinted @ the relationship shown to us by MR. FRANK MILLER.

Dark Knight Returns was fantastic. Bought my first copy in 1989 and still have it (although it's pretty much in tatters now..time to get a new copy!).

A timeless story that holds up till this day.

Yes, it is marvellous!
I obtained mine as the individual issues were being released.

What did you think of THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN: DK2?

Heya Malcom!

Well, to be honest, I wasnt too impressed with DK2. I mean, compared to the original DK ..well there really isn't any comparison. I know it's not fair for me to compare them but if you are continuing a story with the same characters I think you almost have no choice but to match up both endeavors.

I guess it just seemed alittle "forced" to me, ya know? I mean, DK had a nice ending and it wrapped up the story pretty well. DK2 just seemed like FM wanted to try his hand at revamping some other DC characters and used this as the vehicle to do it.

Design wise I thought some of the new interpretations looked good, especially Carrie Kelly as the new Catwoman.

Style wise I would have liked for him to stick with his older style. But I realize he's an artist and artists evolve, so I can pretty much overlook that.

Lynn Varley's coloring to me, left a lot to be desired. The coloring in DK lent a moody dark ambiance to the story...in DK2 it just seems overpowering and out of place.

Story wise, it just didn't work for me. I mean, DK stands alone, and gave rise to the "grim and gritty" era in comics...but when you have such modern classics (for me anyway) like Kingdom Come, you really need to pull out all the stops and show us something really special, and I didn't get that feeling from DK2.

I like Frank Miller a lot, especially his Sin City stuff and some of his independent work like "Ronin", but DK just didn't "flip my switces".

What did you think of it? Can;t wait to hear your thoughts!

I hate to be "that guy," but I only read the first issue of DK2 and hated it so much I couldn't read the rest of 'em. This was, I'll admit, largely prejudicial on my part, but I decided to give Frank Miller the benefit of the doubt and try the series.

My problem with it, besides the execution, was the fact that it operated from a flawed premise. The Dark Knight Returns operates from the simple idea that it is the last Batman story; not a Batman story, the end of the story. Period. End. Then to say "Oh, that was the end... Plus this other story!" No thanks.

And what is Lynne Varley on when she does that Photoshop work? Look at her amazing, subtle work on Elektra Lives Again and then her garish, ugly work on DK2. Hard to believe it's the same artist.

History repeats the old conceits
