me too.. he was a BDH in his own verse.. a truly amazing man... and I agree about the genuine love and enthusiasm. What you saw was the real man. And he was a real man. Loved his family and his work.
And I hope he does find heaven a real beauty...

Here is some new info I read from the Associated Press: "Steve Irwin was videotaped pulling a poisonous stingray barb from his chest in his last moments of life, officials said today as tributes poured in for TV's Crocodile Hunter." "It shows that Steve came over the top of the ray and the tail came up and spiked him here (in the chest) and he pulled it out and the next minute he's gone," John Stainton, Irwin's manager said."
This whole thing is just so tragic that it makes me shake my head everytime I think about it. But as others have said, he died doing what he loved....so how tragic can that be? I guess the really tragic part of all of this is the loss for his family. Especially his children.

I vote for making Steve Irwin an honorary BDH.
He lived his life the way he wanted and with his own mind guiding him.
He was one in a million.
He will be sorely missed and my heart goes out to his wife and the kids.

I'll agree with that. I've watched his show many times and I can't count the times I yelled at the screen "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY LOON!!!!" His enthusiasm for his work was infectious and always could make you smile.

As a true blue Aussie Chick I would like to vote Steve Irwin an honourary BDH too...
In fact I thought the world of him - he inspired millions around the world to look at their prejudices against non-cute, so called dangerous animals and he changed the way kids think about the world around them... Believe me I know - I am a nanny and I've been dealing with the disbelief that kids have about death all week so far...
An amazingly commited hymanitarian who loved wildlife with a passion and lived life as he believed it should be lived. His dedication to his kids was palpable and you never heard him mention or saw him look at his wife without the deepest love! My thoughts and prayers are with Terri, Bindi-Sue and 'Baby Bob' (Robert)

A few years ago I bought the Red Dwarf Role Playing Game and at some point I decided to try my hand at designing a character .. I racked my poor brain and came up with a waxdroid character based loosely on Steve ...

It's been a while since a celebrity death really hit me. I haven't seen him on TV in a while, but nevertheless, I'm really gonna miss Steve.
