Esther nice work. You've done just what a browncoat should do

I find that you can not force FF/Serenity on ppl. It's just a turn-off and will be that much harder to get them to watch it later.

Well I am happy with myself tonight. I've won a small victory. I have gotten my oldest son and his girlfriend to sit down long enough to catch the pilot eps "Serenity". At first they didn't seem to be interested but later when I looked over to where they were sitting their eyes were glued to the tv (Z does the happy dance). At the end as the credits were rolling they both told me it was very good. I caught my son several time laughing at Jayne and Wash's lines ( like I didn't know that would happen).

Anyway like your friends Esther, I don't think that they will become die-hard FF fans but my goal is just to get them to watch the whole series and see what happens. Maybe they will spread the word about the verse without becoming rugged browncoats themselves. That would be fine with me.

Z

What a coincidence! I'm attempting a couple recruits right now: my roommate and her boyfriend. They're downstairs at this moment watching the first ep. I hope they like it! (I swear, her boyfriend reminds me of Wash so much....)

Here's hoping to these and many more recruits!

I have a German friend who became a huge Firefly fan, but she was already a Buffy & Angel fan...and her English is excellent so she has watched all of Joss Whedon's shows in their original English.

She was very frustrated that 'Serenity' never showed in Germany (or I guess it did, in about two theaters...far away from where she lives) so she had to watch it on DVD.

My Swedish Friends became INSTANT Browncoats.. They had me buy them a copy of the movie and a boxed set of the series (They speak English VERY well) and ship it to them.. they have a DVD player that will play any region's DVD (He's an engineer and programmer), and they're cursing me for going to Dragon*Con this year.. if they'd known about it sooner they'd have flown over and gone also (They're both here on business several times a year anyway).

I promised them a T-shirt and autographs (if I can get them)

They couldn't find an "english" copy locally...
