Biotech, thanks for the model! I can't wait to do a test animation. I will post a link when I have it ready so everyone can take a peak.

Biotech!

I got your zip file but it contained textures only! Guess I should look at stuff before posting... Silly me... Anyway, don't know if it was a problem on my end or oversite or what, but if you have a moment to try zipping the model over to me again it would be most appreciated!

Thanks

Ok, sorry about that, when I was ziping up the model it gave me the option to add to firefly.zip, which I had alreaedy created for the textures, but instead all it did was create a new firefly.zip in a different directory.

I should have checked it before I sent it, but its winging its way towards you now via the magic of email!

My PC is a 2ghz amd, 512 ram, 300gig raid array hard drive plus some fun extras

I'm still getting the hang of 3ds max, I'm a novice with the 3d programs other than poser.

I haven't been able to apply all the textures yet, but I believe that is probably my own niavety.

Now I just need to get a decent export in .3ds form so I can bring into my other programs, so far I keep messing up the ship, which looks great in max!

I will dilegently try to figure this all out. I appreciate your help.

If you extract all your textures to a folder you know the name of, you should be able to direct max to the folder once, and it should remember it from then on.

I use poser too, its a cool program.

You might want to limit the resolution if you are doing an animation, 640x480 is probably good enough for transfering to video, and will be still good enough to see online.

I just pop it up to 1024x728 for single frames, as thats my resolution on my desktop, so now and again I make an image good enough to be my background picture.
