Sci-Fi Book Recommendations

This thread predates my time here. Before I ever saw Firefly.
Elizabeth Moon was already mentioned, a book I have read, and own.
She has also collaborated with Anne McCaffery on some books, which I don't think I've read.
However, I believe her first solo novel was Sheepfarmer's Daughter, merely the first book in the eventual Trilogy The Deeds of Paksenarrion. This world would be Fantasy, similar to LotR, with orcs, dwarves, elves, gnomes, etc. I have read the trilogy many times, and have had loaner copies. After a hiatus of a couple decades, the characters resumed their story, supposed to be 3 books - but the publishing world reduced book size, so it became 5 IIRC.
In that interim, she did some other series, including one that started with Hunting Party, becoming the Serrano Trilogy, which then expands/diverts to a new character of focus, and completes the Serrano/Suiza Legacy - 7 books. These are military Sci-Fi, because they are spread across the universe, but not exactly hard sci-fi. I have read this series repeatedly.
Fair warning: most or all of her books feature a female as lead protagonist.
Also, I have enjoyed the novels of John Sandford, mostly the Prey series. He also did one sci-fi work, with another author. Called Saturn Run. I enjoyed it.

Not Sci-Fi, because it is non-fiction. I just heard of a book about past life regressions, of humans, and extraterrestrials, and multidimensional beings.
