The new room was just like the old – sterile, white, door and windowless, ‘cept this one had work tables and storage systems dotted about, and the chink of metal objects alerted her to the fact that she wasn’t alone.

Working at another bench behind her was a doctor - youngish, tallish, well bred type -looked like he made his mama proud – pretty much Alliance through and through. He spared her only a few glances, seemingly waiting for something and using up his time absently filling paperwork in.

Then she realised what he was waiting for. Over to one side of the room, almost obscured from view by the bed she was seated on, a man in a dark suit, deep red flashes here and there, read from a handful of papers. Amongst the papers she could see images, and she easily recognised shots of her younger self.

“Your life has been eventful Ms Antares, yes, don’t think we don’t know who you are.”

She pushed herself up till she could sit independently of the beds support, and rolled her eyes and the gloomy looking guy. “Oh don’t break anything patting yourself on the back will you? Its isn’t like I haven’t been leaking enough DNA for you to test all over the place lately."

He spared her one stern glance, then carried on as he was. “Ms Seryn Antares, wife to one of the most promising politicians the Core Planets had ever seen. Then that dreadful… accident. And now you find yourself scrabbling around this dirty rock. How the mighty fall."

She folded her arms and fixed him with her own clear un-amused gaze, if he was going to play it out in such a clichéd way, the least she could do was make him realise what an ass he was.

“Still, a remarkable feat for a dead woman. Yes, that was quite clever I will admit. And we would be very interested in learning how you managed to delay your child’s birth, but we have a lot of time left to discuss that.

For now, we will simply ask you for your knowledge of how you came here.”

The confusion continued “How I came here? “ She stalled, trying to work out if they were interested in the Tree. “I came aboard my ship, attached to another – I piggybacked from one place to another, then we landed… and I cooked barbeque chicken.”

Don’t try to be smart, Ms Antares, you know exactly what we wish to know – Your crew caused an event to occur that we would be very interested in replicating. We believe it would be of immense value to our cause, and we believe you will tell us before long.”

She failed to stop an amazed laugh from escaping, she shook her head slowly “Oh but you see, there you’re wrong, I’ve no idea, I came here as part of an impromptu convoy - I had no control over my destination, and still less over mode of travel. Now can you just quit the arch creepiness and just knock me around a bit so I can go back to sleeping?

He smiled coldly. “Oh, I’m not going to harm you Ms Antares. There is no need for it in your case, we already have a much stronger hold over you, and as time goes on, you will become co-operative."

His cold certainty made her blood chill “What do you mean?”

The smile hardened, and he deliberately ignored the question, moving slowly around so that she was forced to twist around to follow his progress “For now, you will be treated by some of the best medical professionals we have to offer – I doubt anything can be done for that knee, but they are so keen to try. Then you will be kept here, in really very comfortable accommodation, an entire cell to yourself, until the child is delivered, then you will be transferred elsewhere. You appear to be a troublesome kind of woman. That idiocy with the commander outside has made us think twice about your ability to function in a civilised world.2

Her eyes briefly dipped, the truth of the matter was, he wasn’t wrong – her ill judged attack on the commander had led directly to this. But just as she supposed she was impetuous and rash, she was also bad a dwelling on the past, she had more urgent concerns.
“And the child?”
“Sorry?”
“My child.”
“Oh, adoption maybe? Perhaps the childs grandmother

When she awoke, she was tilted at a funny angle, propped and restrained, with her damaged leg pulled up and held in position. She figured dignity hadn’t been at the top of the bed designer’s features list. Able to raise her head a little, she looked down to see the same doctor stood over her damaged knee, inspecting an image that hovered in the air a few hand widths above.

He manipulated the image this way and that, then spoke, though she couldn’t see to whom. They were discussing her, she knew that, but she couldn’t yet work out what they were saying. The doctor noticed her eyes open, and almost managed a smile.

“It will never be fully fixed, you’ll still get the occasional pains, and require a brace, but you will walk again.” He shrugged “much good as that will do you”

The doctor continued to work, talking as he went, then seemed to find all that he was looking for, and turned away. His colleague came into view – nurse, and he sent him to acquire hard copies of their scans. He watched him exit the room, still as a statue until the doors closed with a soft click, the suddenly turned and pressed his hand over her mouth. She felt the coldness of metal at her throat, and resisted her first impulse to struggle.

“Make no sound, do you hear? Continue on from this moment exactly as you ever have, mention this to no-one out side this room – they monitor every square inch of this facility besides this room – the equipment is too sensitive to risk the interference - and do not, do not, betray me to them, or I will find you and do things to you that they couldn’t conceive of even in their wildest fantasies.

Do we understand each other?”

She nodded as shallowly as she was able.

“Antares? That really your name? What is your business here? Why are you with Franklin and the others? The one known as Needy? What is your relationship to them?” He paused, and his eyes creased slightly “Is that Seth’s child you carry?”

“No! No its not. She glared at him, and it’s not any of the other’s either, before you go grilling me. It belongs to no one here, and has no relevance to them, or you!”

He laughed, stepped away from the bed and observed the knee again. “A little argumentative for someone in your position.
Regardless, tell me what I want to know”.

“You tell me! Who are you to want to know? Why should I tell you anything? Why shouldn’t I tell the creepy guy? Why shouldn’t I just start screaming now and tell the entire place!”

He let a sigh out, and put his hand back over her mouth.” I’m a member of the rebellion, the underground, the resistance, call it what you will, I don’t care, but you reveal this to them and its not just me who will be gunning for your blood. Seth has friends. They suspected he was on the planet – tapped communications gave reports of someone like him, but as yet they don’t know he is here. They will soon. And they will be very interested in knowing all about if you and the others and if you are worth the trouble of removing you from this place.”

For a few moments she was lost for words. Was this a trap? Was it possible for them to infiltrate so deep into the Alliance system? Or was this a trick, to get her to talk? She still didn’t know what about. Tired however, of his hand clamped over her mouth, she took the quickest route to freeing herself. He yelped slightly as her teeth connected, and pulled his hand away, shaking it slightly.

“They are. The group, they are his crew, his friends; you’d have a hell of a time making him leave without them. But…

Look how do I know you are who you say you are? What if you’re just some guy who can act that they sent in to con me? I have no proof, I’m not about to say anything to you! How do I know what you will see as an offence? I’m not about to get them all killed.”

They guy sighed, and with the other hand, pulled up the hem of his scrubs top. Inked into the skin low on his abdomen was an old, crude tattoo, but she clearly recognised the Independents flag, and the number she assumed to be the guys old regiment.

“Couldn’t ge

OOC-That was Immense!!! im intriuged and excited!!! And i didnt break your knee cap just your cartlige. You should be walking again in a month now-adays so they can fix that for you-anyway

Wisp was dragged from the blackness by a bucket of icy water. His eyes were bloodshot and wiry from the lack of sleep, pain, and sudden cold. His hair was hanging wildly from his head and his clothes were drenched and tattered.

His body was filled with bruises. Both his eyes were blackened, his lip was bust fully along his bottom lip, and his body was littered with other marks. Most painfully to Wisp were the burns across the palms of his hands. His tshirt was ripped showing slashes of various sizes and depths across his chest.

"Come on William were not finished yet" Wisps vision had long since abandoned him and his ears were ringing from the violent onslaught.

"No-one calls me William" Wisp breathed through his shattered lips. A blow cam to his chest from the darkness around him. A rib finally buckled under the continualy attacks and he heard the crack as it snapped. He tried to scream but his lungs burned like a furnace as the muscles tried to contract around the jagged bone.

"Your Parents call you William. And at the academy they called you William. Why did you leave the academy you were such a talented individual, You surpassed all your classmates in exams and we invested so much in you but you betrayed us by leaving. Why??"

"I didnt want it. Your life. It wasnt fair on anyone else"

"Thats a lie William. You ran away because you were scared. You were terrified of what you saw while looking where you werent supposed to. The files you accesed were secure for a reason you had no business looking at them"

"It doesnt make them any less true" Wisp had no idea where the next blow came from or contacted as his entire body was tingling with pain. Nerves were dying throughout his skin as the constant barrage of impulses burned out axons.

"What about your Parents William?? They were very upset by your death"

"Death??"

"We couldnt say you escaped so we told them youd been killed while selling technology to the independants. You chose to be a traitor so we made you a traitor. What about your sister doesnt she deserve to know her brother??"

"I dont have a sister" Wisp repeated it in his mind.

"What are these then??" The man was holding some papers Wisp assumed were photographs. The man held them so Wisp could see but they were nothing but blurs

"You can edit those"

"Yes yes we knew you wouldnt believe it so we also made this" There was a click and a disembodied voice filled the room. Wisp hadnt heard it in years...It was his mothers.

'So what do you want me to say???

were just following up the death of your son say anything you want

Well that was three years ago now. We were very upset but he was a traitor to the alliance so we disowned him as soon as we heard. Weve got little Danielle now so we can move on'

"Hear that. Your Parents disowned you William. You have no family now. You have nothing left. Tell us so you can rest"

"My family is locked up in that room" a Fist cracked his face deepening the bruises.

"Now back to the matter at hand. I know you saw short range quantum teleporters but you travelled thousands of stellar miles how??"

"I dont know" Wisp tried to plead "I didnt control it nobody did it just happened I put it down to a subspace tear" The next blow wasnt a fist it was some sort of object with a rough edge, the result tore across his face opening the ancient scar on his cheek. Blood gushed out of it pouring over himself and the floor.

The voice didnt alter at the fresh wound. "Was it a more powerful version?? Did you create a worm hole?? If so where is the gate and how did you fund it??" Wisp shook his head as it fell to his chest. "Im going to do something now that but I will only offer it once" A hand lifted his head but Wisp saw only light and dark infront of him but assumed there was also a mans face.

"If you tell me what you did ill give you full cre

ooc - post brought to you by Quentin Tarantino...
yikes! Peril!

Quote:

At this point, the situation is this -

Having evaded the Epsilon's previous owner, Safe, with Citizen and his crew on board the two ships, the Epsilon and the Dagger, has returned to Boros, to meet up again with Seryn, Needy, and hopefully Wisp and Vixen. Seryn and Needy had remained behind in the flight to look for Wisp and Vixen who had plummeted to an uncertain fate during a tussel. They (S & N) had managed to find Vixen, and in attempting to get her medical help, had ended up in the local jail, where Vixen previous misdemeanors where uncovered and got her sent to the Halo facility - an Alliance prison on the planet. S & N were freed, and after a brief mooch around a local bar, decided to set off for the town that the facility was in, and try and find some way of locating Wisp, (who unknown to them had been found by three kids, Truth, Shadow and Ghost, and sent to the hospital) and rescuing Vixen.
Safe had left the crew completing repairs to the Dagger, and hired a hover-mule , in which, unknown to him, the small child Ghost was hiding. Getting into town just as S & N were heading that way (don't you love it when its all neat like that?)

In the larger town, Soul, now dressed in a uniform of some sort, joins them, and Safe gets hold of scrubs for them, and they prepare to try and infiltrate the hospital in search of Wisp, when the boy himself emerges from an alley way. Overjoyed they go to greet him, and only realise they are being ambushed by Alliance troops when it is too late.

Surrounded on all sides by purplebellies, they have little option but to try and get back to the mule and fight their way out. In an effort to confuse and disorganise the soldiers, Seryn attacks and trys to incapacitate their cammander. With a pencil. It turns out to be a really stupid thing to do, it doesn't work at all, and triggers a firefight in which all but Needy and Soul are injured in some way.

All are moved to a secure section of the hospital, and treated as their captors, a group called The Crimson Guard, see fit.

Also in the hospital is a man, one of the doctors, who claims to be a member of the underground movement, and is working on a way of getting them out.

Hopefully soon, as if Wisp keeps writing himself treatment like this, he's going to be paste before long, and no nifty manouvering is going to get him out other than in a bucket.

Also, back on the Epsilon, Rosie, the tree lady who they made friends with on the first night there, has been attacked and pretty brutally savaged by a very creepy shady little character, so i would say that she is no more, but fear not! TRM has promised us that he's not through with the baranch yet.
