I've got a question about soundtracks

Why is it that almost every soundtrack I own has censored and neutered versions of songs? Especially when it's a song I like, this irritates me a little bit.
I know, totally random...

No. I have boycotted WalMart for the last... seven years or so. Partly because of that very policy, partly for other policies.

Then I have no answer for you. Except that maybe the folks who compile the soundtracks use the censored versions so they don't have to do a seperate cd for Walmart.

Well that's kind of dumb if that's their only motivation.
The policy Walmart actually has is that it will not carry "stickered" albums; those with Parental Advisory labels or stickers. To get this label, I believe, there have to be at least three F-bombs. There are a few other criteria that can be met without a single four letter word (a certain number of references to sex or sexual acts, for example. I don't know what the limit is, though. And as far as I know, only one album has recieved a label for this criteria alone, and that was "Erotica" by Madonna) but mostly it's profanity. One profanity is not going to get you a label and therefore will not get your album banned at Walmart or similar uptight companies who feel they have the right to flout the fair market laws. The two soundtracks I've recently been listening to each have only one profanity on one song, and those are not even F-bombs, but are censored out for radio and the like.

Yay, another MallWart boycotter like myself! Sorry I have no idea on the soundtrack question, I just got excited to see someone else refuses to shop at the Evil Empire.

I think 'Devils and Dust' by Bruce Springsteen is another. For the song 'Reno' - it was a complete first for him, I couldn't believe it when I went out to buy it and it had a Parental Guidance sticker on it!!

I guess I can see why they would sticker that; though I'm not sure a kid would understand all of it. Not a very happy song, is it?
