1 is a cover with more golden and brown tints and the 2nd is a more darker cover with more blacks and 'Special Edition' along the top. I just bought the 'Special Edition' as the cover is slightly different. I have 3 boxsets now. 1 which is scratched to hell because it's always in the DVD player, 1 which has not been opened and never will and 1 with the slightly different cover which has also never been opened. How sad LOL. I noticed the 2nd cover with the 'Special Edition' was released after Serenity was released.

I still have an issue with the art on the Serenity DVD. The art has nothing to do with the movie. I wish they had put an artist who actually knew about the show and liked it in charge of the box art.

Does anyone know if the "Special Edition" DVD is actually different from the original release, (other than the cover art)? I sure would love me some shiny extras and other assorted goodies that weren't included before. Here's hoping! I'm off to Amazon for a little recon.

I agree RiveR6213. I also dislike the absence of Inara and Book in some of the promotional materials and art etc.

I agree River, I don't like it either.

Onthedrift, I can find nothing about a Special Edition. I would like to know the answer as well!

The UK edition of the boxset has a Special Edition bar across the top, but the content is exactly the same.

There are places on the web for fan-created Serenity DVD covers...I'm using one now!

Yep this is the place to talk about anal stuff like this :) Why was Mal called a captain in Serenity and we all know he was a Seargent etc etc? :)
