I just watched "Trash" (the lousy quality one ) last night - great stuff!!
But:

YoSaffBridge is on the loose, angry and vindictive. She lost her share of the take, she can identify Mal and Serenity, and she is not getting out of the trash bin untill the 'feds show up. Isn't the crew in a bit of trouble when she is found

The "Message" script I've read doesn't deal with this. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, the Feds might not believe her (who, Saffron lie?) and at least the crew was wise enough to keep Simon & River out of site when she was on board.

Yeah, there is the whole she isn't exactly trustworthy thing. If she tells the whole truth (A preacher a companion and an independent walk into a bar) then they'll laugh, and if she doesn't then the preacher and the companion can vouch for them. Shepherds are men of god (so don’t trust them) but everyone seems to trust companions.

This time. Saffron saw Simon and River when Zoey introduced her to everyone in OMR. Of course she may not have known they were part of the crew and figured they were passengers. Then when she didn't see them in Trash it wouldn't have seemed like they were missing.

There was a scene in the script for OMR that did not air where River accuses Saffron of being a thief, then Saffron shows she stole some food, but thats not what River meant.

But even without this scene, if Saffron was caught by the feds and is made aware of the fugitive alert on Simon and River, she can point the feds to Serenity.

Also, I just realized this is mentioned in passing in The Message:

The screen comes to life, Womack's face on it.

WOMACK
This is Lieutenant Womack of Allied
Enforcement. You are in possession
of stolen goods and are ordered to
cut thrust and prepare for docking.

MAL
The Lassiter.

ZOE
That was quick.

INARA
Think Saffron tipped them off?

Mal hits the screen com:

MAL
This is captain Reynolds, I think
there's been a mistake.

WOMACK
There's been a lot of mistakes,
Captain. The latest of which is you
taking that crate.

He looks at the others. "Crate?"

My guess is that when Saffron gets caught by the feds (that is if she didn't squirm out of the trash before they got there) she's gonna put on an act. She'll pretend that she was forced to do what she did, or she was brain washed, or some such. She'd only turn Mal in if she had to because if she tells the feds about Serenity then that's just half a dozen people's words against hers and it also might implicate her in the plot to steal Serenity with that net do hicky.
