There have been a few posts over the last few weeks concerning the likely contemporary political affiliations of Whedon's Browncoats. We watched the movie Erin Brockovich last night, and it occured to me that it's people like Brockovich - grassroots community activists who have to fend for themselves against lack of funding, prejudice, bureaucratic indifference, corporate incompetence, and shareholder greed - who are the real-life Browncoats of our time.

I couldn't let this pass without comment:

You couldn't be more wrong. Go learn the science - everything Brockovich and her associates claimed is false. They went after deep pockets with spurious accusations to get a fat settlement, nothing more. Big time ambulance chasers with far less class. Makes me sick.

Are you asking us for some rags-to-riches stories or something? Cause if so, I have many to tell you.
