Out of CHaracter Post: I've realized something: American Pie (the song) is the perfect source of character lyrics. Seriously, check this out:
Kaylee and SImon: Well, I know that you’re in love with him
`cause I saw you dancin’ in the gym.
You both kicked off your shoes.
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues.
Book: And in the streets: the children screamed,
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed.
But not a word was spoken;
The church bells all were broken.
And the three men I admire most:
The father, son, and the holy ghost,
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died.
Jayne: Oh, and while the king was looking down,
The jester stole his thorny crown.
The courtroom was adjourned;
No verdict was returned.
And while lennon read a book of marx,
The quartet practiced in the park,
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died.
RIver: I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news,
But she just smiled and turned away.
I went down to the sacred store
Where I’d heard the music years before,
But the man there said the music wouldn’t play.
Mal and ZOe:
Now for ten years we’ve been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin’ stone,
But that’s not how it used to be.
When the jester sang for the king and queen,
In a coat he borrowed from james dean
And a voice that came from you and me,
Inara: Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While the sergeants played a marching tune.
We all got up to dance,
Oh, but we never got the chance!
`cause the players tried to take the field;
The marching band refused to yield.
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?
Wash: I was a lonely teenage broncin’ buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck,
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died....
Greatest song I've ever heard. Just my opinion.
For all the Don McLean fans out here in the black, what lyric in "American Pie" defines you?
I think a little chaos is in order.

I think I put us at 6 members of the High Charity survivors that came onboard and only three are accounted for. 'Course, it means your character may have to cross 13 and DW if you want to stay on Serenity. Or you can wait 'til we get to Persephone?
Ertia does her best to stretch out in the confined space of the exhaust duct. She is covered with grime from head to toe from crawling around in them.
She can still hear them singing in the cargo bay as she squirms through Serenity's innards dragging the vac. "Never. Never. Never drinking again. Ever. Never. Never."

As Ertia crawls through the bowels of the ship she comes upon the ship's cat hiding in a side duct. Clearly startled, the small grey tabby hisses at Ertia, her green eyes wild and her normally immaculate fur smeared with grease and dust. The little cat's aggression lasts only a moment and she slinks up and rubs her grimy head happily on Ertia's cheek, purring away like Serenity herself.
(yes, I'm still here! Just not much for lil ole me to do with all the combat goin on
)
One day.
One plan.
One army of Browncoats.
On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

"OH! Heya, Cat. This where you've been hiding from Jayne? Can't say I blame you." Ertia rubs Shipscat, but realize she's just getting the little feline dirtier. "Sorry, little one. I'm about done here. What do you say we check on Fly and Pain and see what's left on the list?"
Shipscat just purrs. Is that a yes? Or a no? Hard to tell with a cat. Ertia ponders it as she finishes vacuuming the duct and starts backing her way back to the hatch.

JRC's been called over the com to speak to the captain. He meets him on the catwalk above the cargo bay. Mal listens to the tune and says, "Ahh, the sound of happy people singing happy songs, floatin' throughout the ship.......SHADDDUPP!!" JRC is taken aback by the order from Mal. "Cap'n , you alright?", JRC asks. "I've been better. Follow me," Mal says. "Yes sir, Cap'n", JRC says.
Everyone dies alone.
