Ok...so I get the official Star Wars website newsletter and all that, right? Today's issue contains a link to a fan blog talking about supposed cameos of Darth Vader in Attack of the Clones (before the transformation) through quick appearances of Vader's shadow in a few shots.

Now...what really drew my attention was the entry by the fan using the screen name "Sol Kassar," (about third from the top of the page) in that he/she mentions in a shot where Anakin's chatting up Jawas about his mom (I presume...been awhile since I screened AOTC), a Firefly-class ship can be seen flying by.

Here's my question: is this Star Wars fan (and presumed Browncoat) seeing something cuz of withdrawls or did George Lucas actually have a vessel that looks like Serenity in "Clones" 4 months before Firefly aired on Fox!?! I challenge any eagle-eyed Browncoats with copies of the Attack of the Clones DVD handy to prove this observation right or wrong!

Dammit, this may be the only time in my entire life I regret not having any of the prequel's on DVD.

It's kind of a strange feeling.

No need to go down that road--one should *never* regret not owning those DVDs. All you eagle-eyes out there can just use up a slot on your Netflix, or support your local crotchety video-store clerk.

I'll have to check this out as soon as I get home from work... that said, yes, I own the "Clones"-DVD. I must have been out of my mind because on re-watching it it was just... well... as boring as in the theatre :)

I'm proud to own all 6 episodes.

I do as well. But I refused to spend money on Episode I so I just taped it when it was on TV. Watched it about 2 weeks ago - not all of it because I got home late from work and it was almost half-way through. It still makes me cringe, even after seven years.

Attack of the Clones premiered 4 months before Firefly aired - it seems incredibly unlikely that someone at ILM would have even known what the ship looked like far enough in advance to put it in as a special effect.

Oh, and I also own all 6 episodes. I'm not proud. An obsessive completist, yes but proud? No.

I just got back from lunch and I have a definate answer to this. I went through this scene that a "Firefly class cargo ship" flew through and there wasn't one.

In fact, there wasn't anything flying by in the sky except clouds. Now, if you use pieces of vinyl and make a colorform, (I'm showing my age here),Firefly then you too can have a "Firefly class cargo ship" fly through that scene.

Wash: Closing in.
Zoe: Planet's coming up a might fast.
Wash: That's just 'cause I'm goin' down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all.
Mal: Well, if that happens, let me know.

Somehow I'm quite relieved there isn't a Firefly-class-ship in Attack of the Clones. It would seem like *hm* sacrilege to me. This ship is just too good to be in a George Lucas-movie

Well, that makes two of us.

But no, have to agree with the other findings on this thread, (sadly) no Firefly ship there.
