season 2 rumors?

We can only hope. However, SCI FI isn't exactly a massive channel on the UK's digital satellite system. While it does have some good stuff, it also has a lot of not so greats. It would have to be very well advertised to peak the interest of the unconverted massess, especially at primetime. Fingers crossed that SCI FI can market better than Fox....

Any rumour is a good rumour the more excitment that can be generated can only be good. Sci-fi isnt a huge channel here in the UK, however, id watch it and id make everyone i can too watch it when it comes back on (being optimistic)

Any exposure is good exposure.. the getting people to notice it is what Browncoats there in the UK need to do. 
Our SciFi channel here in the US is little too.. .and when they have a Firefly Marathon any one who cares and can.. puts up flyers, hands out flyers, tells everyone they know about it.. hopefully it will stir some interest in the general community. Make new recruits.
Anywhere the show is on and may bring in one person, that one person will bring in more, cuz they'll fall in love and want more and know that they have to spread it around so there is more.

I agree that any additional exposure will only help spread the signal.. Sci-Fi is small but continues to grow an audience. The traditional networks are deluted among so many channel options.. The fact that Sci-Fi has renewed their license to run Firefly is absolute positive news.
Now, I realize we've all been bombarding them with requests to pick up the series, but how about this spin... request primetime marathon showings. More viewings = more browncoats.

I am a veteran-regular sci-fi channel viewer making a request of a primetime marathon of Firefly. I understand that you will be re-broadcasting Firefly the complete series along with other re-licensed programs and movies, and suggest the best way for exposure to new fans to tune in to Firefly is running it at times that would pull in a bigger audience.
For myself, I was very fortunate to catch one of the daytime marathons of Firefly this past January and have been hooked ever since. I own the DVD series and movie, but this request goes out in a desire to expose this show to so many others who’ve missed it. Other marathons have run during daytime hours, which many can TIVO or DVR, but honestly, a primetime viewing would no doubt be a surprising ratings win for sci-fi channel.
Fellow “browncoats” have been very passionate in efforts to bring the show back to life, and many of us have promoted your marathons in means of personal flyers and word-of-mouth on a lot of the firefly bboards to spread the word. Any future airings will surely get a nod and prod from us and flag others to the sci-fi channel – and keep us tuned in as well!!
Like many others I am sure, you’ve received numerous requests and pleas for picking up the show for a season two, and I have to admit that I am all for that!
But, first things first – MINI-SERIES. Promote it like Battlestar Galactica and “Sci-Fi Fridays” and we fans will also do our part. Proof is in the growing number of “browncoats” nationally and world-wide. If you visit any of the Firefly message boards, such as fireflyfans.net, you will see how many of us there are and the passion that is expressed for the show. THEN, proceed with a new Firefly series (or second season?).
I love what sci-fi has done for the re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica (second personal favorite show). A similar new production of Firefly - say, the before mentioned new mini-series leading into a new series - would flourish on your channel. That would surely become a permanent primetime fixture. The audience is there. The signal is strong.'

That's very good and when I write my letters this Sunday, I'm going to word one similarly to yours... it's very good.
I hope SciFi will give our beloved show some consideration.. I think they'd find it to be a fine addition to their Friday nights and it'd garner them lots of ratings.. if I were an executive I'd be interested in the Browncoats being on board with my programming... it just makes sense, and I hope they come to see it.

I'm sure things change pretty quick in the biz, and for obvious reasons Joss would never come right out with anything before it was absolutely a GO with any network.. So, in saying that, CW may not be completely out. Who knows?!? If it is, then there's always other networks looking for shows, like SciFi, FX, USA, etc.
A really positive chance would be SciFi, even though they declined to pick up Firefly back in 2002. That was a long time ago, and with the success of Battlestar Galactica, and so many other drama-driven shows becoming popular again, this shiny little 'verse just might be the answer!
It's really just a matter of time.. just believe.. keep spreading the word..
So, until then, I will continue to hold until Mal returns..

I wasn't around the 'verse back when the BDM was being made, but I've heard that there were similar denials back then, too.
Any longtime browncoats like to confirm or deny that? It would be real shiny to have a link to Joss saying "No, there's no Firefly movie in the works" to point people to when they bring up that "debunking"...

As much as I loved the original SG1 series, I doubt it will continue much longer. The current season, to me seems very weak. A new life for Firefly might be just what is needed to take it's place. Got my fingers crossed!

About two months before the story landed in Variety, Joss denied that there were even 'talks' concerning the BDM. A lot of people speculated that legally he couldn't say anything until the lawyers agreed Fox was 'out of the picture' movie-wise.
If it is indeed a return to TV, namely the CW or Sci-Fi, the same 'rules/fears' would apply.
Personally, I think Sci-Fi represents the most viable option. Use the BSG treatment...show old episodes in primetime (original '70s series), produce a new mini-series, gauge fan response, start production of new season. I know BSG is a joint venture with the UK...but this new Sci-Fi UK news seems eerily familiar.
