Release news 3/25/2003

Okay, I just got off the phone with someone at Fox that said a "Firefly" DVD was talked about in a meeting they had today. There is no other information regarding this title available, but it IS coming. We'll keep you informed when we receive more information, but nothing more is expected for some time.

Much thanks to AKFirefly for informing me of this.

So, how much work goes into a DVD of a half season of a TV show that no one wants?

In a less snarky, bitter version: I wonder if it will have many toys on it or if it will be bare bones episodes (all of them at least)? Some writer/director commentary would be shiny. Maybe a "making of" feature.

And we can convince all of our friends to go buy them, and Fox will feel bad, and realize they were WRONG to take away our sky! "And they grew into a tree, and they all climbed up the tree into a magical land with unicorns and a harp!"

Heh. It will be good to have nice official versions though. (As much as I love my TRS80 copies.)

Gag reel! Must include high quality version of the gag reel!

Any comments/interviews with Joss(or anyone else!, not counting whats on the site) would be shiny too.

Oh, I hope so too. Maybe all the concept art, with the Serenity blue prints and Its many incarnations. Even the scripts too.

does that mean i can give my dvd burner a rest now??

seriously though....i'll be first in line to buy the official set when it's available.

as pointed out above...i just hope they put effort into the production to make it a worthwhile product for a show that went 1/2 a season and didn't have all the eps shown. i'd be REALLY disappointed if i end up having done a better job than they do

Actually, I think that, given how much Joss loves Firefly, and, really, everyone loves Firefly (those involved in it & the fans), then I'd imagine he'd love to do a commentary track, or make a spiffy new making of featurette. Or at least, I darn well hope so. Stay positive. :)
And, let's face it, Joss commentary tracks are always insightful, intelligent and just damn funny! The commentary on Buffy's Hush/Restless and The Body are frickn' awesome.
