They are not. They're simply 7up with cherry syrup and maricheno cherries.

They're "kiddie" drinks.

yes, i figured from the fact that they let Mal drink them at work,

They sound very nice however, kiddies drinks are the best, off your head on e numbers beats drunk any day of the week, yey for e-numbers!

Its just the name - conjures up imagaes of child actresses gone down the drink route.

or maybe i'm thinking of Baby Jane.

Ya, Seryn, I'm confused too! Explain to us non-Brits.

Shirley temples, the best non-alc drink there is. Although an adult version for the child-star future lushes could be good...

e-numbers are additives, colourings and sweeteners and preservatives in food. (usually a number prefaced by an 'E')

some bright spark decided that it was a good idea to take out all of the natural sugars in kiddie aimed food and fill them full of chemicals instead. Which is why every other kid in Britain these days is a ritalin junkie.

(er, i.e. has had their brain fecked up by all this chemical exposure and has ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) Ritalin is the drug they shove them on to calm tham down insteasd of treating them, apart from an adult friend of mine, he was prescribed Speed (a class A narcotic))

getting 'off your head' is slang I suppose for getting drunk or high or generally out of your senses. E-numbers and sugar have the effect of getting me totally giddy and giggly, make me talk very fast and want to run about and play snap. Where as alcohol and other drugs generally make my sleepy or argumentative, plus, with sugar there no hangover. It gets my vote on chemicals-with-which-to-incapacitate-oneself.

I suppose while im here I should explain 'going out on the pull' its a slang term for the act of going out to a nightclub or bar or something with the express intention or finding someone, if not to take home that night, then spend a goodly amount of time kissing with (or 'snogging')(though only if your fifteen is 'snogging' the best word to use)

I personally have never done the pulling thing, you never know where someone you meet in a pub has been, and often that doesn't bear thinking about.
If like I jokely proposed to do in the Tree, i'd taken JH out on the pull it would have meant taking him to a bar, introducing him to the cocktail list whilst I (and preferably a partner in crime) searched out an thouroughly vetted someone nice who we knew JH would like and engineered a situation in which one or other of them found it very easy to say 'shall we go somewhere quieter...?' should they wish to.

It cheaper and less scandlous than paying some one and less fattening than break up icecream.

ADHD and ritilin are very popular over here, too, for the same reason.

and as to the pull thing...ooooooooooooooooohh. *lightbulb*

glad to be an inspiration!

to be honest i expected people to be a little repulsed, its not a virtuous occupation.

Which is why I didn't mention competetive pulling (seeing how many men you can incite to violent passion for you, works on potential - i.e. you DO NOT actually kiss them, just how many would if you wanted them to) basically flirting with intent, my record is fourteen.

I could charm the pants off an Animal Cookie monkey.

^ is a tease.

I wasn't inspired, it just now that something I heard/read makes sense now when before I was a bit puzzled.

Well, I might just have to try that when I'm in London. There may be clubbing.
