Wil Mcarthy has posted an article about the worlds of Serenity, and the possible explanation for so many inhabitable planets in one solar system. This subject has raised a few questions with certain fans so I'm sure you'd enjoy reading it.

Me? Not so much. But I'm not much of a science buff. Still its there if you want to check it out

Yeah, I skimmed his article. My main problem with it is that he is assuming the Firefly 'verse takes place in one solar system, which is where all of his discrediting is coming from. I thought Firefly took place in one part of a galaxy, made up of many solar systems(doesn't one of the opening voice overs mention something like that?). And as for the creaters not looking at science, how many other sci-fi programs omit sound in space?

No power in the 'verse can stop me!

Although the series presents evidence for both the multiple-systems and single-system theories, in interviews Whedon has repeatedly said that there is no faster than light travel and that everything takes place in a single system. I haven't seen the movie (which the writer of the article may well have, since he constantly refers to "Serenity"), but I suspect the question will be answered there--and we already know where Joss stands on it. So, yes, it really is one solar system.

Unfortunately, Joss has said before that science discussions makes him cry. So... I wouldn't think too hard on "evidence" from the series.
