Any SGA fans wanna go off on what it's about and how great it is in an attempt to get me to buy the pilot dvd that's out? I know nothing about it, other than the name keeps popping up all over, like it's good or something.
Always lookin' for a cool show Chrisisall

Ok here is a brief plot summery:
Stargate Command discovers how to send an expedition to an abandoned Ancient Outpost (Atlantis) in another galaxy. The team discovers that a hostile alien race called the Wrath who survives by sucking the life out of people. The 1st season of the show follows the expedition as the try to find a way to defend Atlantis from the Wrath.
Now for the recommendation part:
If you’re new to the Stargate universe you’ll find the show much easier to follow than the newest seasons of SG-1. The characters and writing is funnier than SG-1. The bad guys on the show start off dangerous and stay that way unlike some of the enemies from SG-1. Those first two hours left me wanting more, and I’ve watched every episode twice ever since. I’ll be buying the complete DVD set once it comes out latter this year (I hope).

I agree with Gunrunner. I never got into SG-1, but my wife turned me onto Atlantis. I dig it and try not to miss it during the season even though I have a DVR.

Whoah, Joel Goldsmith did the music, that alone is worth the price of the dvd!!!
47 min. into it and I like it.

Okay, very well done! It had a strangely familiar feel- sort of like Voyager... even the nervous fella is a little like Neelix, hmmm, a similar set up, I guess. Characters were instantly likeable, FX no Zoic, but very high quality.
Outstanding for me was the music. Jerry Goldsmith's son Joel is a master in the making, no copy of his dad, just a similar ability to mix instruments and combine melodies- a little like John Williams, too.
All in all a good show, when does the box set come out?

Glad you like the show. Rumors say the 1st season box set will be out around November. Beware there have been some cheap fakes (high quality rips from TV put on DVDs) available around the Internet, Amazon had one listed but has since pulled it.

SG-1 - mediocre. Atlantis - rocks. Nuff said.
