Where or how did Mal recruit JAYNE?

OK, we all know that Mal and Zoe fought in the war together. We know where Wash, Kaylee, Inora, Book, Simon & River came from. But what about JAYNE?????? They never explained how Jayne joined the merry crew. Any wild ideas?

That episode wouldn't load on the DVD set I have. I am waiting for Best Buy to get some more in so I can return my set. Now I can't wait to see it!
