My roommate is a big 4400 fan and I happened to look over his shoulder when he was watching the trailer for the new season online. The banner at the top of the page is a slideshow of stills of the cast. Imagine my surprise when I saw Summer's face appear on the screen! I couldn't find a credit for her, but there is no mistaking that face. Is she really on the show? I know I have been busy lately, but did everyone already know about this and I just missed it?

Yup she is She was talking about it at Starfury Serenity but my memory is really bad right now so I can't remember what she said except that she was really positive about it and had really enjoyed working on it.

Thanks, Terranell, for the response. Well, if Summer is excited about it, I guess I am too!

God I hope they add some humor to The 4400.
I felt the mini-series took itself waaaaay too seriously.

And I hope they up the budget so they can do some ACTUAL night shooting instead of that annoying in camera iris effect that turns daylight into "night" (a dead give away that this effect is being used is the strength of the shadows the characters and other objects cast).

The premise behind The 4400 is a good one. I'm hoping it's first official season is more professional and doesn't cut corners on the writing or production as the mini-series seemed to.

Does anyone know why co-creator Rene Echeveria left the show?

From what I remember at the Serenity convention, Summer said she'll only be appearing in the first episode, though I could be wrong.

I've never seen the show but will definately be tuning in to see Summer.

I read that Summer was going to be in season one of the 4400, I guess as a regular cast member but couldn't because of conflict with Serenity. So, she did a guest appearance on the premier of season two but that'll be all. Hopefully, she gets to be sane next time we see her on screen.

That would be nice, but I would still love to see her character again. The problem is that I think the way the 4400 work is that they do one world altering thing and then disappear.

This is supported by the fact that the only cast members, as opposed to guest stars, that are part of the 4400 are ones who have yet to change the world.

Our girl River, ok not River but slightly similar in superficial ways beyond just her body, most definitely completed her purpose.

Spoilers on the nature of her purpose and what separates Tess (Summer’s character on The 4400) from River.

Select to view spoiler:

Tess is wrong, when she says crazy things they really are crazy, on the other hand when River says crazy things they have a meaning, except for the hair bit –if that has a meaning it’s beyond me. Tess is used by the people from the future, or the people who claim to be from the future, to build a very large machine with one purpose, fixing the mind of a single person.

Tess was the only member of the 4400 who believed that she had memories of the time she was away, but the memories proved to false, a delusion that made her create a big tower that she thought was a transmitter to those that took her. She believed she was going to be returned to the place she was taken from, but instead when the thing was finally turned on it appeared that nothing happened, nothing of value at least.

Then a man spoke, one who had not spoken in 6 years. His mind was fixed and he was left to continue his work, work that will allow ordinary humans to have powers like members of the 4400. In a way Tess was right, the man she allowed to speak is the future in a sense, meaning the transmitter did bring back a voice from the future.

Tess didn’t see that way and was left depressed, and from the last scene it might even be inferred that she became catatonic in the end.

Very unlike River.

On a non-spoilerish side note, Tess is a paranoid schizophrenic, Simon thought River was the same thing. I hope this doesn’t mean Summer will end up typecast.

An unrelated spoiler

Tom Baldwin was not affected by Tess, he never once acted as the others, including his partner, did and after the thing was done his partner knew she had been controlled, he did not. It occurs to me that this could be because of the time he spent in the light.

Whether the side effect is intentional or not remains to be seen.

Just to draw this out even more, perhaps the bible people were right. Jordan Collier is out there offering salvation, if he is believed that makes him a prime figure for the antichrist. All he needs is world domination and a false prophet. As for the Christ to come after him, another spoiler:

The baby, Isabelle, could be Jesus reincarnated, I know the gender is off a bit, but we are talking about a virgin birth here, the second recorded in history. As for her being a little violent, I turn to Jesus himself for the answer: Matthew 10:34, "I bring you not peace but the sword."

Though Jesus was an advocate of peace he brought violence, crusades, lynching, hate groups, and let’s not forget the last chapter in the bible. The only ones who have been harmed are those who tried to inflict harm upon others.

Ok, enough babbling for now.
