M/I: I would love to see them together, but I really thing that they will have a short affair and it will end tragically. It's the love that can never be.

K/S: I don't know why, but I just hate this idea. I like them both single.

J/R: I don't think this is such an impossible idea. Joss loves those opposite and adversarial relationships (Xander/Cordy, Xander/Anya, Fred/Gunn, Wes/Lilah). Here's how I see it playing out: Simon's treatments are very helpful, River gains control of herself, but still has her pre-coggy uber-smarts. Jayne starts to get a little crushy with her, instead of fighting and belittling, he starts being uncomfortable and looking away... eventually, they admit they are both interested, and you have a season or two of cute blissy relationship goodness, before some little thing devastates the good vibes and they break up.

Look at Fred and Gunn... Gunn was the tough guy who was only in this whole good vs. evil thing for the kill. Fred came back from Pylea a few pancakes short of a stack. Fred gets sane, hook up. Gunn is still a bad-ass with the fighting, but with Fred, he gets to be gentle. (Until he snaps some professor’s neck and ..... well, you know... Joss happens and it's slitsville.)

______________
Kaylee: What's the companion policy on dating?
Inara: Its.... complicated.

J/R stories can be found at Fanfiction.net

I agree with what everyone is saying here on some level. I'd loved to see M/I's thing drag out for a couple of seasons. On/Off kind of thing.

Something's going down tonight! Something with the man!

Two by two. Hand of blue.

I don't think Kayle and Jayne is out of the question. After all in the unaried piolet Kaylee was having sex with the guy who was supposed to be the mechanic for serenity. SHe remarked that engines made her hot. This shows that perhaps she can be superficial in her choice of men. Of course maybee when she met a guy like Simon she realized she had been with the wrong kinda guys.

Wasn't that in OOG? Because I saw the scene you're talking about, and I haven't seen the unaired pilot.

River has to get better to get any attention is this direction. but I can see Jayne interested in her. I just hope she has enough of her mind together to say NO!

Don't forget Badger was rather taken with River. Actually, even before, (especially before?) "Ariel" I considered Jayne/River, just because, as you say, everyone else who might get together seemed to be leaning in that direction, leaving them for each other.

I could see it because after what she's been through, River might think the most important quality in a man is physical strength and size and dirty survivalistic fighting skills. Didn't Patty Hearst marry her police bodyguard? Also because Jayne's brain operates on about 15 watts, I think his company might be rather restful for River, (when he's not plotting dark violence against her), rather like pre-cog-ing a rutabaga.

For his part, Jayne would never be able to understand a single thing River says, whatever her mental state, but at least he'd have someone to make sure his tax forms were filled out correctly.

Why does everyone think he's stupid? Dirty, uneducated, mercenary, a bit cruel and a little "bad" definetly, but I haven't seen him do anything really stupid that couldn't come from the little blind spot intelligence can have (like in Ariel) Jayne/River is still a possiblility in my book.
Mal/Simon. BLATENTLY OBVIOUS. Haven't seen anything this obvious since YuYu Hakusho (which was on Sat., so maybe it doesn't count) or, for the non-yaoi-girl people, Hercules.
Inara/Kaylee. Mostly because I have a feeling Inara has a rather low opinion of the male half of humanity. As for Kaylee, i can't quote any specifics, but I won the debate so I must've had something. Mondays.

She swore to obey you?

*cracks up at the mental image -- Jayne's brain = rutabaga * Too funny!

Hmmmm...couples. My own preference would be:

Wash/Zoe: Stay together happily. Yes, I know, I'm boring. *grin*

I agree with you, however, i don't see it happening. What I see is a big big BIG blowup because we (at leat I)have yet to see them make up. The pattern seems to be: fight, put it on the back burner while dealing with a life-threatening crisis, be too happy to be alive to continue fighting, repeat. Soon, real soon, the back burner's going to reach critical mass.

But then they'll get everything out in the open and fix all the problems, and everyone will be happy.
Except Mal, because he didn't get to sleep with Zoe.

Take me, sir. Take me hard.
