I want to put together an unofficial book for the series, since it seems no one is doing so, though we are getting Serenity books (I will include Serenity material too though). If everyone contributes what they have it will be a truly awesome piece of unofficial Firefly merchandise.

I need your hi-quality scans of press photos, slides, blueprints, production art, cast photos, fans posing with cast members, press / publicity material, or any material you want to actually send to me. Either for the series or for Serenity. I'll also take scans or links of articles for source material that you think is important, or anything else you think would be good to include. I'll do my own research of course, but as I said I need everyone's help to really make this happen.

Contact me for scan specs or other details (check my profile for my email).

What are my credentials? Only about a decade of reading episode guides, movie books and magazines, currently doing an English major at UBC in Vancouver, Canada, and more, I'll be happy to share more on that side of things if anyone's interested.

So, no one replied.

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who has one of those press boxes complete that they could scan in hi-res all the scannable stuff for me... or if someone has one of those press boxes that they'd be willing to sell...

Or as again from the first post, if anyone has stills and the such that they could scan hi-res for me.

Cool, thanks for the response. Yes, I do know about those pictures already.

As for the Blue Sun Room, I have gone through it and found some good stuff but who knows if I am missing more, since absolutely no organization / sorting has been implemented for the BSR and there are hundreds (if not thousands) of postings in there.

Yeah, I was kind of looking for more official stuff but any help will be helpful so thanks again.

Just FYI - a woman at Norwescon (Seattle scifi con in March) announced that she is writing an unofficial guide to FF. Not to rain on your parade... but just so you know. I don't have her name. I've tried to find out since so I could watch for its publication. I understood that she was already a published author so I took this announcement sincerely, as something "in the works."

unless ~this~ is you?

Thank you ZOL!

SLGN - nope, not me. I guess someone else is beating me to it. Still, I suppose it won't matter if there's a few unofficial guides out there, and let the best one "win"! I'm sure browncoats would like as much as they can get. You never know, hers may never come to fruition, or mine might not, so it's just as well that the idea is at least out there so that it gets done!

If no one seems to know any info about it... well, if I can get support from this community, I'm sure we can make a better book together!

Exactly! Good luck (with process).

Heya. Figured I'd do a bump here and see if anyone notices, rather than start a new thread for the moment (and when I start a new thread, I'll probably do it at the browncoats.serenitymovie.com forums, so I wanted to catch you crowd first).

Wondering if there's anyone here who wants to help with said book. This is a rough idea of what there would be (in no particular order):

- airing info, a nice chart showing how/when they aired and what the order was supposed to be (dvd order).

- a timeline. i understand there's a very good one out there somewhere? we should see if we can use / adapt that.

- gather cast/crew/joss interviews from as many sources as possible to tell the story of firefly (verse), firefly series (behind the scenes) and the story of serenity (behind the scenes) in their words.

- tell the story of each episode (plot), again including interview quotes when applicable (behind-the-scenes), and also include such things as quotes from dvd commentaries, and compare the original scripts (didn't someone out there have them, but never ended up posting the transcripts)?

- firefly dictionary (i believe some of this also already exists in various places). chinese (but more basic, since it's been excellently covered already in finding serenity). more things like gorram, cortex, 'verse, vera, each character (badger, etc.), each planet, etc.

- actor/crew/joss bios

sure, lots of this stuff is already online. the thing about a book though is 1) it's something you can hold in your hands and 2) it's something that gathers everything into 1 place.

so what i'm looking for is people who have the talent, time and ability to work as a team with myself as the coordinator to make such a project as this the best and most exhaustive that it can be.

Guidewriter, i have no talent or ability (or experience for that matter beyond writing a column in my college's small magazine) but i do have enthusiasm. Although i'm sure i have very little new information to anyone else, although i am a busy student, i will be off all summer so could do some small amounts of writing if you would want me to. I would be willing to help with any small synopsis' or whatever, if u have no better alternatives.

So as i say, sounds interesting, u should definately go for it, i'd be interested in doing a bit to help, but i'm not overly qualified, apart from being a Browncoat of course. Good luck anyway!
