I went to work in my Browncoat, complete with my Mal pistol, suspenders, the works. Security didn't even notice the gun on my hip - that makes me feel safe around here. I thought for sure that with the type of people I work with (call center - lots of nerds), my costume would be a big hit. But no one knew who I was. I started telling them I was Richard Castle, just to mess with them. Apparently I have a lot more work to do. I thought everyone knew about Firefly by now, but I was dead wrong.

Ignorant me! Received the Diagnosis "Social Anxiety/Phobia" yesterday. And all the while I thought I was just scared of people.... :tongue: And Doctor told me I was Overweight, too. Noooooo, really?? you mean, the "5X-Queensize" tag in my Jeans is NOT a foreign size 6???? Silly me... Thanks for letting me know, though. I thought I was imagining things and the Evil Henchman or some such was altering my clothes while I slept.

I haven't blogged in a blue moon(sun?)... Well some folks know and some folks don't, but now many of you will know, that I have gone through the roughest time of my life, but that era has come to an end now that my divorce is final as of 11/8/10. This is an auspicious day, indeed! This is the day that my own Yosaffbridge is forever cut loose from me (only mine wasn't anywhere near as hot as Christina Hendricks, nor as smart, nor as creative...you get the idea). For those of you who remember my potential homeless situation, she was a big cause of that. She also did a great many things I won't list here, but suffice to say, they aren't the sort of things people do who respect themselves or others. Anyway, it's cause for celebration because it means my life can move forward, I can keep flying. I have full custody of my kids, and life is looking up now. Though the lazy hoe tze duh pi gu will probably never send an ounce of coin she owes me, I'll manage. Thanks again to every Browncoat who's carried me and mine along the way...especially those anonymous ones who I can't repay (I'll pay it forward I reckon). You've all been a big part of my life, and have been my family when I've had no one else. Throw one back for me for my U-day (Unattached Day! LOL!) and if you don't drink, well, some hot cider or even a glass of tea works for me! It was the best. day. ever! :D John (TCM)

I am such a chicken. Asked a friend that used to be stationed here with her hubby what she thought about the shindig I'd love to set up and if I should go talk to any of the Project Rudolph people?? (as its supposed to be a charity event up at the LRMC and I am a local national with no ties to the military, so I will need all the help I can get dealing with the brass) Yes, she said, go ahead. So I wrote a message to the founder of Project Rudolph. Chickened out at the last minute and sent it to my friend for proofreading first... Haven't heard back yet.... Sigh..... I wonder if I'll ever get this thing going, chicken that I am.... :tongue: oh, and here is the Project Rudolph webpage:

Awlright-ee!! Da Chicken finally got those tailfeathers moving and sent off a message to the founder of Operation Angel and Project Rudolph. After it had been proofread by my friend.... :P Now I am trying to figure out, what is worse: her saying OK or not even responding.... No going back now. Will let you updated how the drama unfol... er... the Story continues. And I think my one fellow Browncoat here in the KMC got snatched by the Alliance... no sign of life from him.

Ooookay, so I got a message back from the Rudolph person. It was "Nope, doan wanna, you're on your own" just with several more words. Her message had a real automated feel and as my sister put it: We Do Not Suffer Other Charity Besides Us. Fine, whatever, have it your way, Lady. You don't know it yet, but here's the news for you: YOU CAN'T STOP THE SIGNAL. No way them guys are getting cheated out of their Shindig, out of a potluck and Firefly. I got my heart set on this project. The US Military has kept my little corner of the world safe for longer than I am around and I want to say thank you. It's not much I can do for them, but if providing some form of entertainment helps even just one of the guys up at the hospital to forget for at least a short while, then I think it's all worth it. Being sick and hurting is no fun, whatever the reason. And they more than earned the right to forget, even if it's only for a short while. BardofShadow

Ya know, if the whole thing was just for me, I'd say, Ok, let's forget about it, there never will be any shindig organized by me here. But I'm wanting this for someone else. That's why it hurts so much. For her, it is easy to say: Go talk to the chaplains or call here and there. Her husband is active duty and she has a whole array of ressources at ther fingertips that I don't have. She has been in the newspaer, in (local) radio and (local) tv of AFN Kaiserslautern. She doesn't need me to do her thing, but she knows, I am on my own and need a little help. I am just a middleaged local national wanting to do something based on an obscure tv show she has never heard of, basically intruding her territory, which is the hospital. She recommends having my fellow browncoat working at the hospital setting it all up, but it seems that either the alliance snatched him, or he's tdy or just plain lost interest as there are only the two of us, I have no idea. Hurts. Will start looking in some other avenues when I get back home.
