So, at lunch, we often trade foods. Or take them on a first come, first serve basis. Hero was getting his lunch, and I got some crackers. Well, "M" was eating the rest of the pack I got the crackers from. Well, "G" said "This is my client, and he deserves x." Or something like that. "G" goes on about client, and when Hero arrives, he says something along the lines of "If this was a Firefly discussion, this could be [i]very[/i] interesting." We laughed so gorram hard!

Never done one of these before, but why not? I'll start of with something short and then if anyone replies and inflates my ego because I think you actually care what I have to say then I'll write something longer. Therefore, let The First Blog (TFB) begin. I was in lab today dissecting a shark with my group and the lab instructor came over to my bench. He pointed out a structure that we hadn't been able to find and I noticed (as I always do) that he wears blue dissecting gloves. Now this is no big news, he always has, but later when another question came up, our T.A. came over; lo and behold today he too was wearing blue dissecting gloves! For the people out there with non-dissecting majors, dissecting gloves are just plain ol'latex gloves given a fancy name. In this case BLUE latex gloves. Well let me tell you, I just about jumped up and did a little dance. I did manage to keep it in however, my lab partners have been a wee bit weary of me ever since the talking cat skull incident, and I wouldn't want to upset them further. But come on people! Two men, blue gloves? And not just any gloves either, the exact same kind! Serendipity! This incident only solidifies Jeremiah's* place as the best T.A. ever. Now if only they'd been wearing black suits instead of lab coats. Oh well...can't have everything at once. This at least will give me something to hopefor (yah, like that'll ever happen). So I know that everyone has their own Hands of Blue moment, but this was mine and as such will always hold a special place in my heart. *names have been changed to protect the privacy of everyone involved, By the way, Jeremiah totally touched my bum today, and I'm not entirely sure that it was an accident....heh Well that was longer than I though it would be, but I'm not forcing you to read this so who cares. Blue gloves, and bum touches, and skarks, oh my! ~Nur

Ok I was thinking yesterday that FF fans tend to be smarter than your average reality TV viewer so where can I help find these smart people and make then fans. Then it hit me, my good friends subsim.com! I know one person over there is a Firefly fan, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a smarter group of people (You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen a Nuclear Physicist and a Rocket Scientist debate which is better Das Boot or The Hunt for Red October). So from now on whenever I make a mission for Sub Command in the mission description box after I have said whats happening I’m going to add a Firefly quote and a link to this site. If anyone else does things like write missions/levels/whatever for computer games maybe you should try this. In the event that you've missed my previous blog entries or the short-lived thread, I've developed a board game based on Firefly. It's a cooperative game for 1-9 people, ages 12 and up. Players take the part of one or more of the Firefly crew, facing the same challenges and dangers that the crew faced in each of the 14 episodes. Strategy comes in the form of when and where to use special crew cards unique to each crewmember and how to manage the money gained from jobs to keep Serenity flying. The ultimate goal is to help each of the crewmembers reach a state of serenity. You can print it out at home on your colour inkjet onto cardstock, or even onto standard paper, if you don't mind playing with thin paper cards. It's free (with the printing and the addition of a few easily found markers and dice), it's based on our favourite space-western, and it's a great way to see how well you'd do compared to our intrepid crew in the same life-or-death situations.
