Go Blazers!
Monday, 22 March 2004 00:39:00

I am just too happy right now. I can't believe my Blazers beat Kentucky. KENTUCKY! That's insane. I mean I wasn't even going to watch the game because I knew there wasn't a chance in Hades UAB would win. But my neighbor started yelling at me from the porch the minute I stepped out of my car tonight that I needed to watch. I caught the last 12 seconds. AHHHHHH!! I just need to scream. Anyway, I know no one cares, but I just had to do a little happy ranting. ~Nicole~

OMG, they do exist

I couldn't believe it. My friend, Brian, that I converted was brought up firefly with an old college buddy he saw today. Said buddies response "yeah, I caught half of one of the episodes when it was on fox, but i thought it was boring and had bad acting." Brian's jaw dropped on the table when he heard that. I mean, I can see if its not your genre, don't like the depiction of the future or something, but bad acting?? Our only explanation is that a.) he was expecting it to be exactly like Buffy and b.) not enough T&A for the guy. I'm still just floored by this. I mean, I'd initially been hesitant to try to get Brian to watch the DVDs because we do have different tastes (when I first got hooked on the comic strip Get Fuzzy he couldn't stand it --- said only girls liked it cause it was all girl humor). Oh well, guess all the Nielsen families responded to the show like Brian's college friend. Its a sad commentary on today's art though that anyone could describe the acting on Firefly as bad :banghead:

This is not my best day ever...

Ok me, my dad and Mike (My failed convert) are going out to get Propane from the Indian Reservation, well we are going in a pickup truck so I'm in the back of the cab, I rip my paints squeezing in I muddier 'Gorram' and curse the makers of my paints. What a crummy start. So we have gotten the tank from another friend’s barn and were off, then the engine dies, smoke fills the cab and burns my eyes. We all scramble out in to the freezing cold weather (curses I forgot to ware my 'Jayne Hat' I received the day before!!) Well the something or other is trashed (it was on the port side of the truck so I'm not ruling out the compression coil!) so we call our buddy who comes to give my dad a ride to Auto-Zone for a part, me and Mike talk a bit and I read the book I had with me, Spy Sub: Top-Secret Mission to the Bottom of the Pacific by Roger C. Dunham. Well the new part doesn’t fix the problem so every one but me goes to the car shop my dad works at for some tools (I volunteered to stay with the truck to look after it) well for the next hour I read my book and sing The Ballad of Jayne. We finally get the truck running, I'm freezing and we got no propane. Oh well I just felt like venting…

Thanks to Everyone

Thanks to everyone who participated in my "You Drink, I Donate" St. Patrick's Day celebration. Haken has been paypaled for your participation. I got a modest amount of $'s I wasn't expecting and I figured it would be good karma to spread the joy. I'm thinking maybe we could do something similar latter in the year. "You barbeque, I donate," "you drink eggnog, I donate," (though I hate eggnog and I wouldn't force that on anyone, not even for Firefly.) So thanks again and keep flying! ______________________________ Just because it didn't happen doesn't mean I didn't see it
