14 to 77: Firefly for All Ages
Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:56:41

I'm staying at my sister's house while my band (The Bedlam Bards) plays at the Washington Renaissance Fantasy Faire, so I took this opportunity to show Firefly to my sister's family. My fourteen-year-old niece has been the most gung-ho recruit. So today I was IMing with a musician friend I converted by teaching her a tune off the sound track (the wedding music in "Our Mrs. Reynolds"), and she told me that she had recruited both of her parents, who are seventy-seven years old! It got me to wondering who the oldest Browncoat out there is. In other news, I was singing "The Ballad of Joss" just after closing at the faire this weekend, and a vendor I'd never met came over and listened with a huge smile. She's one of those many, many devoted Firefly fans out there who doesn't hang out online with other Browncoats.

So then,

the day after the shindig weekend

I'm shattered! I can't handle 3 days of shindiggery... was wonderful meeting Team Random - totally how you expect, although i can't wait for Sam and Hilary to meet up, to see who talks the most!!!! Love ya both  The BBQ was a success (thanx Sean) and the vodka was very easily drunk, surprisingly few chocs eaten and minimal Alan squeeeeeeeeing, i think we found it hard to do all that AND talk!!! Thanx to Dr Evil for doing a wicked CD...you could have put a pic up of yourself so we knew who you were! Brilliant A great time was had by all. Not bad for my first blog Until next time/shindig Everybody needs a stalker...:fork:

I LOVE Firefly!!

I am a fan of Stargate SG-1. On Friday, July 15, 2005 I watched the first episode of season 9. A week later on Friday, july 22, 2005 I watch episode 2. At 6:45 pm I turned on the tv and went to the sci-fi channel. I must of saw the commercial for Firefly 20 times so I thought to my self "This sounds cool" so I watched Firefly. now I watch FireFly and Stargate SG-1 on fridays 6:59 pm-9:00pm. Now they play scenes and behind the scenes footage of Serenity. I can't wait for it to come out. Only 45 days!!!!!

Been thinking . . .

It's a painful process but what the hell, right? I was thinking about what I respond to so fiercely in Firefly. Of course, there's lots of things- Amazing dialogue, so clever and funny and grim the day doesn't feel complete until you've worked a piece of it into conversation and of course characters who weaknesses are almost more endearing than their strengths. But that can't be it, can it? And then I found this quote (I love quotes. I collect them. I am a word whore.) - "I know that every good and excelllent thing in the world stands moment by moment on the razor-edge of danger and must be fought for -- whether it's a field, or a home, or a country." -Thornton Wilder And that's what I love, the fierce, impossible beauty of the fight.

D is for Droppy... and that's good enough for me.

Yeah, all the waiting and agonizing over my soon to be revealed Calc 2 grade appeared to be well worth it. I got a D. Better than an F. I assume it's better than an E. But oddly not as good as a C...a letter which brings us such words as commonplace, caustic and cacophony. I would much rather be delicious, decadent (definition dos) or dashing. Here's hoping you have a downright delightful day. Droppy
