I was devistated when Buffy ended, i had literally grown up on the show and felt like a part of myself was dying. I got over it. Then i was frustrated and pissed off that they cancelled Angel, that and Joss seemed to enjoy killing off female characters. I got over that also, i also understood that it was time for these two shows to finsih. (BTW Season 8 Buffy in comic book form, still getting used to reading comics but its generally going good.) Both of my favourite Tv shows had dissapeared and i was left with a void to fill. So i wondered into a dvd store and saw a box set that i wasn't really interested in sitting on the counter. I had never seen this show before but the GIANT 'JOSS WHEDON's' across the top lured me in. I caved and forked out $70, came home and began watching Firefly. I watched the pilot, the entire pilot and was stunned. The man had done it again, created another beautiful world and fantastic characters to immediately fall head over heels for. After the few hours in a row it took me to watch the entire series in one go, i screamed at my Tv because there wasn't going to be anymore Firefly. Ever. I (apparently being the nerd i now am) followed the crazy people into internet land and waited, patiently for word of a movie being made, for word of Serenity's release date, for word of the release of the Serenity's trailer online, and finally for the day when Serenity hit the movie screens. I saw it twice, once in the morning and once in the evening. Some questions were answered but not enough to satisfy me, this world was not done. It was not cookies (so to speak). I understand how unlikely it is to have the series picked up again, and maybe can hope for another movie, but i would prefer a series. You can get to know the characters better and there is much more of a storyline. I'm explaining this all to you because thats what i am going to try an do. Start 'Serenity the Series.' In script form as though it were going to be on tv. I am going to try and stay as true to Joss as i can, and after deeply watching Buffy, Angel, Firefly and anything else i can get my hands on of Joss's hopefully i will be able to write just as entrancingly annoying storylines for these characters. I hope you all enjoy my Serenity series. Leaving now Divine

'Cos he's just all kinds of hot. Here's hoping my twentieth year on this planet is more fruitful than the nineteen behind me. Here's to getting dumped less, getting drunk more, passing my exams, getting a degree, and then marrying someone rich, hot and famous so I can laze around for the rest of my life. xxxxxx

Mine seem to be flowing again, after a lengthy hiatus :-) I recently had an idea for another fic, and I was up pretty much all of last night writing it - I have a feeling I'm going to regret only getting 3 and a half hours sleep later on, but hey, it'll be worth it when it's done *long pause* Right? It's not finished yet but it's finally getting somewhere, which is the main thing. And I'm just glad to be working on something new. You ever get that feeling when you really, REALLY want to write, but you lack the imagination and ideas to do so? Yeah, I suffer from that quite frequently, so it's nice to be on the other side for once! Anyway, right now I'm off to meet some old friends for lunch, so I'll get back to the drawing board later. Earth-that-is is safe from nuclear war for as long as we do not have a self sustaining colony somewhere else. This rock of ours is doomed. It will be destroyed by nuclear war, make no mistake. It is however unlikely to occur within our lifetime, if for no other reason than that we have nowhere else to go. There is no shortage of crazy/misguided/desperate people willing to 'push the button', but so far none of them have more than a handful of nukes, and they know all the world is watching them, ready to glass their little bit of the globe should they ever disconnect from reality far enough to use them. Noone is willing to risk the entire human race over anything (Perhaps a few are, but they haven't figured out how to start a global conflagration yet). The equation changes once there is a self sustaining colony somewhere (that somewhere may be a ship, station, asteroid, moon, planet, this solar system, interstellar space, another solar system, what the frak ever. It just has to be big enough to indefinitely sustain a genetically viable population.). Whomever started the colony may now believe themself to be able to 'win' a nuclear war, because 'their' people will survive. Earth is doomed. Study hard, pass on what you learn, do what you can to get your descendants off this rock. Don't kid yourself. Nuclear warheads are far too good at what they do to ever be gotten rid of. In terms of dollars per assured death, nothing compares. The bigger problem is this: Once there aren't enough nukes to ensure the complete destruction of the planet and all life on it, someone will think, "I can survive this, therefore it is a viable option." The number of nukes may be reduced (to say... 2x complete planetary destruction per armed country), but they wil never go away, and someday they will be used.

Boots for Daisy (my sister) just got here today from Artcat. Now we'll match. They're the Sears boots with the laces and buckled flap above the ankle, a little on the dark side, but since there will be a good handful of us wearing the same identical boots I'm not too worried. Striped grosgrain from ebay got here faster than my Sharpe's Rifles DVDs that had been ordered a week previous. Will pick up some brown cloth dye while shopping later this week and begin soaking it. Next I'll need the pants to put them on! Picked up a sidearm at Walmart (cost: $10): Sig Sauer P228 9mm airsoft pistol. It's got clear plastic on the muzzle and trigger guard which I'm hoping to coat with some paint. Tristan's offered some suggestions on how to paint it, so we'll see how it turns out. If it works well enough and fits the holster from Mircea, I'll be picking up another one for Daisy. It's got a nice weight to it for being plastic (especially in the grip) and not too heavy like it would be if it were metal.
