I'm supposed to have a visitor over today. A friend who I have known for a couple of years by now but never actually met. Of course things keep getting in the way. And against my best hopes, they are doing so today as well. I just received a call from my boss, telling me that I should be over there this afternoon for a conference. Great. My hopes are he's got some time on sunday as well.

Hi there, This is a poem my Uncle Ken wrote. I thought it was good, it's about my granda Joe and his dogs CANIS MINER My Dad was a dog man, and all his life through Was never without one; he sometimes had two. His work in the pit was unsparingly stark; Carving out coal, in the dust and the dark So, when he came home, at the end of each shift, What could be better, to give him a lift. Than walking the fields, after tea, with a hound; Unconfined; breathing fresh air; a vista abounding In greenery; meadows and pasture and trees, With myriad many-hued flowers in the leas; And trailing contented, behind at his heels Or, questing for quarry, in hedges and fields. His faithful companion, devoted to Dad; The finest of friends that a man ever had. Dad loved walking dogs; he had many, through time. It got him away from the grit and the grime of the pit, which he loathed, from the depths of his soul; His dogs a release from that coffin of coal. and while looking for said poem I found some old photos of my karate class when i was about 11 or 12.

The Hunter and the Hunted: Chapter Three, Vengeance. An end to this fic (finally!). I have it all planned out but i just can't think of a way to kill the Hunter off. Plus there will be a Kaylee torture scene, which may be unpleasant to read depending on how far i go with that. Old wounds don't heals.(working title): Chapter One, Aces High. This will be the first installment in a series of fics which will focus on River and other Readers as well as an original character who will later provide a nice counterpoint to Mal's browncoat mentality. Possibly a little River romance in the bag as well. the first installment takes place in the Blue Sunrise casino (three guesses who owns that) and has River using her abilities to win in a big poker tournament. Has a sort of 'Casino Royale' feel to it.
