Savour every moment...
Wednesday, 12 April 2006 00:11:25

Only one more episode to go. I'm holding off on this one big time. There is still some mystery... My brother and I have been speculating: 'Serenity' wrapped too many things up. Things that didn't need to be wrapped up. And left other things unwound and dangling out the tenth story window. Blue Sun?! Hello?! WASH DIES?!?!?!? :bash: Anywho, I think that the movie kind of ruined any chance of more episodes. They would either have to be set between the seires and the movie, or be extremely different from the earlier ones; i.e., we know why River's crazy. "Also, I can kill you with my brain."

Fun Visiting the NC Browncoats
Wednesday, 12 April 2006 02:10:01

Last weekend, a contingent of Browncoats descended on the North Carolina Renaissance Festival, where my band was performing, and afterwards a Browncoat named Christie was kind enough to give us a ride to Carraba's, where we met up with yet a few more Flans for some great food and even better conversation. I realized while there that part of what I love about meeting Browncoats is not simply that they love Firefly. They're into all kinds of interesting stuff--they're smart, engaging conversationalists. I'm terrible with names, but Christie, CallMeSerenity, JadeHand, and Jennifer (the custodian of the Sacred Saint Christopher Medallion of Jayne, good for a +2 Charisma bonus with Browncoats), and all the rest of who were there, it was great meeting you, and I'm really looking forward to coming back! Even though there was an official contingent of Browncoats visiting the faire, they were by no means the only flans present. I sold some copies of On the Drift simply by walking up to merchants and asking if they'd ever heard of Firefly. Every time we played "The Hero of Canton," people stopped and smiled. Many of them had never heard of the Bedlam Bards or On the Drift. Many of the cast members came up to us to thank us for making the album, and I was surprised by how many times people mentioned that they have it along with the show and movie soundtracks as the only CDs in their changers, or the only tracks on their IPODs. I feel so honored by that. One of the cast members approached me at the end of the day about swapping a pewter pin that said "SHINEY!" for a copy of the CD. I happily agreed. All in all, it was a great time.

I know, it's been said, but it keeps being true.

After a 13+ hr work day, a brief time for a cold drink and a quick bite, I take some time to relax. And what does that mean? I fire up the DVD, and watch the intro of...yes, SERENITY. As I watch the all too familar sequence of events unfold, I'm once again amazed. This REALLY did happen. We really did get our Big Damn Movie, and it's beautiful. I can't help but be in awe of it all. Everything of the day fades away, the hard work, the talk on the radio about the daily woes of the world, the nation. As I sit in comfort and watch this beautiful cast come alive once more... i just smile. I simply can't help myself. Thanks to the entire cast/ crew of SERENITY.

Mid April.....

Finally the script has a beginning middle and ending - with suffiecient 'fuel' to write more episodes. I'm done at last! This weekend myself and the other two writers will get together and refine the details and inject some 'style' into the piece as a whole. There's still more work, but this is the fun part. This is the part where we all test out the lines of dialogue and see what works and what doesn't. Where there should be more or less drama/comedy/action and so forth, and work on a rhythm and pacing. If you have the chance to write a script I seriously recommend it. It can be a great deal of fun. I'm a little surprised how much I enjoyed it. Pheeew - will keep adding updates as things develop.

Joss Whedon is evil. Brilliant, but evil.

Ahem. Person I was talking to in hallway: Why are you late? Me: My morning began rather questionably. Person I was talking to in hallway: *raises eyebrows* Me: Well...first I lost my notebook. Then I almost lost my Romeo and Juliet essay. Then I had to wear ballet slippers to school because my other shoes killed my feet. Person I was talking to in hallway: *raises eyebrows again* Me: Okay, you want to really know why I was late? I did lose my notebook and all that other stuff...but I probably wouldn't have lost my essay and my notebook if I hadn't stayed up later than I was supposed to to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Person I was talking to in hallway: *laughs* By the way, Simon and Ainslee's Game part 4 made me cry. Not good.

war stories goof?

Been re-watching my dvds lately. Anyone noticed a white slimline phone hanging on the wall of shuttle 2 in War Stories? Or am I crazy? Also, thanks to all you shiny browncoats for visiting my new website and giving feedback! It's much appreciated. Who knew I knew somebody in Chile?! Speaking of the site, the dancing girl pin on the homepage had a tragic accident.:crap: I came home from getting an epidural in my neck, only to find that the beast(pics on about us page) had gotten her off the coffee table while I was gone. She suffered a cranial elongation(not sure she can recover) and an amputated arm! Still haven't found that arm. Gorram beast!!! Tried to suck up with kisses, should I forgive him?

This has no bearing on anything buuuuuuuut.

My Wild Party CD keeps spontaneously stopping in the middle of songs. Luckily not during "A Wild, Wild Party", because I would dieeeeeee. Hmm. The crew of Serenity should have a Wild, Wild Party. *evil laugh* :finger: I just wanted an excuse to use that emoticon. Hehe.

Trials and Tribulations of Online Shopping

Grrr... Why don't things ever goes smoothly? ;p Ordered some stuff online for my little lunchbox project about a month ago. Was waiting and waiting to see what was going on and finally got a message on my machine from them. Turns out one of the items is no longer available (and it's just something I wanted to play around with anyways.) Got a replacement item set up, so I oughta be getting everything sometime next week. But gorramn it... I hate phones. Got sorta a obsessive-compulsive thing about 'em. (Not the only thing I freak on, either :) I have to call someone I don't know, I usually have to warm up for like an hour. Totally irrational, but I just hate doing it. But anyways, should be all shiny next week. Once I get that done I can finally move on to some other projects I wanna work on. (OCD again... have to do things one at a time :) 'Course one of the ideas I have is some more lunchboxes lol... Also wishing I had an HD-DVD player so I could pick up Serenity again and not feel silly about ;p So I guess I'll just try and be patient for the Firefly Visual Companion to come out. Okay, maximum verbosity off. Stay shiny all you pretty, pretty people ;p
