Not so much blocked as exhausted from work. I want to write, but it's like squeezing blood from a gorram turnip. And what does come out isn't good. Sad, too. My favorite scene from Passenger Book 2 is coming up and I just can't get to it. :banghead:

Because it's Samhain, I decided to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I just finished  Man I forgot a lot, and I mean a lot. It was like watching it for the first time. Been too long I guess. At any rate, its gotten me in a better mood and more relaxed. This was definitely needed. Me being a big ball of stress lately and all. Here's hoping it stays that way  Hope you all had a good (or better) time too

I noticed that after the release of the BDM there were scores of converts rushing to see Firefly. People who found something good and were left wantin' more. These same people, after finishin' the episodes, realized there was a new part of their life, a part that wouldn't leave 'em. The searched for a way to get closer to the characters that had grown on 'em. The found this site and us, people like them. A place where they could be a part of something greater. These people began posting about the pain of not having anymore of something so good. Asking questions like whether or not it got better. Well, I am here to offer what words of comfort I can. It doesn't get any better. There are ways to ease it, such as this site or watching the episodes, but not better. Just know this, we're here to stay. We're all glad you have arrived. Welcome to our world.

My apologies for this before I begin. It is now 1:30 AM and I am back at my room in my fraternity house. For those of you who don't know,Which is most likely everyone seeing as I haven't posted here ever, I live in my fraternity house. Well I just got back from my annual Halloween party which got busted by the police (the sign of a truly great party). I went all gussied up as Jayne, hat, blue sun shirt, and all. Well I seemed to have piqued the interest of at least a few people, who came and asked me about my get up. I explained the 'verse to them and they seemed genuinely interested. Well at least I think they were. The punch was flowing like mudder's milk at a Jayneday Celebration. So as I write this I am in a good mood, pretty much libation induced, but good none the less. Sorry for this ramble, especially form a long time lurker, at least I think that is the term. I said i would start posting to myself a while back, but well here I go. Sorry for the inhibited typing, but you know how these things go. TheKnight

Ok So last week i decided to boycott tescos cause of the evil home delivery service, but thats a whole other story and yesterday im told that they are doing a huge campaign and backing Little Hearts Matter, which is a charity for children with specific Congentital Heart Disease, mainly single ventricle hearts, (where the child only has half a heart, so 2 chambers instead of 4, one ventricle instead of 2) which indeed is what my daughter Chloe has, Almost all *little hearts* go on to have Heart and Lung transplants and an astounding 65% of these children pass away before they are teenagers, because of lack of donation, lack of facilitys and lack of research into finding alternative temporary solutions until a heart and lungs are available. LHM, provides information, support and valuble resources for familys and children affected by CHD. Chloe is one of those little hearts who will need transplantation, she has now had all the surgery available to her, she is 6......its hoped she will be able to hang on until she is a teenager so she can recieve an adult heart. but everyone is very aware of the thin line there. My point is this, many people associate heart problems with adults, people who take care of themselves, but it can affect perfectly normal children too, they are born with it, some have minor problems requireing no surgery, some have major problems requireing various stages of surgery and management. Awareness needs to be raised, and Tescos are now helping us to do that, Kudos to them. Feb 14 (yes valentines day) is CHD (congenital heart disease) awareness day all around the world. That was my serious moment of the week

Today I was in the video store and there, looking out from the cover of a video, is Chiwetel Ejiofor (how is his name pronounced??). Huh?? I acutally did a double take. SO, I pick up melinda and melinda, a movie written and directed by Woody Allen. I will admit it freely. I am not a Woody Allen fan. With the exception of "Bullets over Broadway," thanks mostly to Chaz Palminteri and Dianne Wiest, his films have just not done "it" for me. Anyway, back to today. I'd seen bits of a preview for melinda and melinds and had not considered renting the movie. Then I found out it was Woody Allen and I really didn't consider renting it. But, there's Chiwetel Ejiofor! Aaaargh. I thought his portrail of The Operative was mesmerizing. Sure, it was Joss' writing, but Chiwetel was increadible. So, I picked up the movie. When I was leaving, the employee warned me it's an odd movie. Great! :crap: I made sure to tell her I was getting it because of Chiwetel and not because it's a Woody Allen film. (She looked at me a little funny, but then I'm used to that.) So, later today I will be subjecting myself to a Woody Allen film, all thanks to Serenity.

Today, I read another article on LOST and its expanding mythology. And I was thinking about LOST and other shows similar to it, and it really got me thinking about something. I like LOST. I enjoy watching it on a weekly basis and the mysterys that it slowly uncovers and stuff like that. But I don't think it's "THE GREATEST TV SHOW EVER CREATED" like so many people claim it is. I am always dubious about any "greatest" claims for a show that's less than a few years old. And I think there's one thing that LOST severely lacks in that, in my mind anyways, keeps it from attaining such great heights. Humor. There is very little humor in this show. Occassionally it come along, but in a highly understated way. Most of the time, it's all stern um drag, tortured souls, flashbacks and a glacial like pace. Now, I love that the show takes it's time in unraveling everything about the island and the characters. But I would like it more if Hugo, who was always intended to be comic relief, was less "I'm cursed because of the #'s" and more "Let's play golf, dude." The ep where they played golf in that open stretch of land was such a welcome relief to the metaphysical "hark, there is evil afoot." goings on with the show. So it's this humorless take on the proceedings that, IMHO, hinder the show rather than make it fly. In comparison, FIREFLY is ripe in humor. Joss Whedon understands how crucial humor is to something this big in scale, silly in concept and serious in delivery. There are too many moments in FIREFLY that really show off a sense of humor about the whole thing, which keeps the show from getting depressing with the River angle. But my fave show that I love to compare LOST to is 24. 24 was busting tv conventions long before LOST. And I'd prefer a 24 marathon as opposed to a LOST marathon because of pacing and timing. LOST has loads of time to figure everything out. But in 24, time is a luxury no one has, so the action and the plots are constantly moving without getting bogged down in navel gazing, which is something LOST continually runs the risk of happening. Does anyone agree with me in that LOST isn't all that's cracked up to be, mainly because of a lack of humor?

My ipod crashed while I was listening to the signal. I am without podcasts and music until further notice. As a result I am walking around in circles and tapping my head repeatedly with a spoon.

So, I wake up this morning and go through the usual stuff of dragging my lazy butt out of bed, etc. Then I look at the clock and think, my god, I'm going to be early today! This never happens. But then, as I was about to leave, it hit me. OpenBSD 3.8 is released to day. Oh, happy day  So, I walked into my room and gave wget the mission to download it. Both macppc and i386 is down; backups have started. Soon it will be installed and the fun of compiling and setup begins. I'm giddy! Well, as much as a 28 year old male can be ;)

*sigh* I got to see the screener, and saw it in theaters twice. If I wasn't poor I'd buy out a theater for a day and make all my friend come watch it with me. Not that I have enough friends to actually fill said theater, but still. Love the movie, many warm fuzzies to Joss. Even if he doesn't read this, he still gets warm fuzzies. Twice as many to my boyfriend, though, since he got me into the screener and to the theater both times to see the final version. Yay boyfriend!
