Short blog this. I've noticed everytime recently someone's joined us here, they've set up a little thread saying "Hi!". I don't know about anyone else, but I never did that. And now I feel like I was rather impolite not to. Cue guilt. ~END~

I had a little time to kill today so I decided to start this blog. I gotta say, I'm lovin' this website I've discovered. God, that sounded sickenly reminiscent of a McDonald's ad. Don't get me started. I'm new to the blog business. I doubt anyone will even read this. Oh well. I still haven't sent my sister the Firefly dvds. I can't seem to stop watching them. I've already seen them several times. I just have to take a deep breath and do it. I've got to let it go man. Its like trying to quit smoking. I just tell myself... one more. One more won't hurt. Maybe it'll even purge the fixation. It doesn't help that I've started talking like the Serenity crew. I've never said "ain't" in my entire life and now it slips out entirely unbidden. I gotta say, I kind of like it.

Nope, this isn't a blog about CSI: NY (what kind of tagline is that for a show?). I was in my Humanities class and we've been discussing the Bhagavad Gita for the past couple of days. As part of the course, you have to do a presentation on one of the works before the end of the semester. So today a girl did her presentation on the Bhagavad Gita. The last presentation I could barely keep my eyes open, but something caught my attention this time around. The girl mentioned [i]Buffy the Vampire Slayer[/i]. I immediately sat up a bit straighter and raised my hand when the girl asked if anyone was familiar with it. I was sitting at the front of the class so I couldn't see behind me, but it's likely I was the only one who actually cared to rise a hand. :blush: Not that it mattered much; it was just a fleeting reference to how Buffy is like Arjuna. Don't worry if you have no idea what I'm talking about, because my prof had no idea either. When the girl was done, he said he wasn't familiar with, and I quote, "Buffy the whatever". I wasn't surprised at his statement, but I think it would have been neat if he had known about [i]Buffy[/i]. Anyway, the girl started to explain Buffy's situation on the show and I suddenly just cut in, blurting "She's chosen." I'm not sure if the girl was annoyed, but I started to blab, talking how Buffy and Arjuna are both warriors, it's their destiny to fight evil, and how both were reluctant but finally embraced their duty. What I said hopefully made some sense. I mean, how often does anybody tie in [i]Buffy[/i] to a boring presentation? I had to speak up! :biggrin: Now, if only someone would mention [i]Firefly[/i] in a lecture...
