Why is Firefly a 'Hard Sell'?

I'm a radical leftist & feminist w/ a major chip on my shoulder--sound like fun? ;) While all that's true, I'm also married (11yrs) & the mom of 2 great kids. I don't do much beyond chasing my 2-yr-old right now, but I intermittently work on my degree in political sci/journalism. For fun, I'm into all of Joss's TV enterprises, love to read (mostly political theory) & music (primarily hardcore punk, but a little of everything appeals). That's 'bout it.
