Biography
I first heard about Firefly from a television commercial, but never did, sadly, get a chance to see the episodes as they aired (I'm a workaholic).
When I heard Firefly was being put on the silverscreen as Serenity, I felt obligated to watch the movie and, after doing so, I was hooked on the whole concept!
I'll admit that I was a bit lost in regards to the nature of some of the characters (like Inara and Book). Thus I was compelled to buy the DVD set of Firefly's first and only season!
I returned to the theaters to watch Serenity, with better appreciation for all of the characters.
I might catch some flak for saying this, but I found Firefly/Serenity much more endearing than the Star Wars sequels.
Firefly/Serenity has many similarities to one of my favorite Japanese anime series (and movie), Cowboy Bebop.
