I listened to the interview, and it was quite good. PJ,s comments about some of the reasons people stop encouraging kids to read struck a chord.(e.g. as they get older they start pulling away from adults, so many adults stop encouraging them etc etc). back when I was running afterschool care,I made the most of the kids connections to my staff (particularly the teenage staff) for encouraging many areas of developement including reading. Many of the kids got into reading just because I talked alot about books I had read that I knew they'd enjoy. I also happily spent a bit of my own money buying them material I thought they would get into. Too bad the Softwire hadn't been written back then.
