In the battle of Chuck vs. the Network Suits, the Buy More geek has prevailed.

NBC has decided to give Josh Schwartz's well-liked action-comedy another shot next fall.

WOOT! Go Chuck! That's 4-for-4 in terms of shows I hoped would get renewed: Chuck, Dollhouse, Fringe, and Castle.

Awesome Haken. Thanks.

At least Chuck isn't alone in the budget slashing, but it's sad to hear they're cutting a couple of writers loose. The part about dialing back some of the recurring characters I'd already suspected. It seemed unlikely the Buy More would play a major role in the series any longer, even if it had been renewed for a full 22 with it's previous budget. I have no doubts it'll be back, just not by an episode by episode basis as it had been.

My theory -*MINOR SPOILERS FOR NEW FANS NOT CAUGHT UP*- is the core cast will be intact, with the removal of the Buy More and Big Mike, but Jeff and Lester will have a couple guest spots next season. I seriously doubt they'll cut Morgan and Anna, or Elle and Devon completely. One theory I've heard is to move the show to Hawai'i, still filming in Cali of course, and have Elle and Devon head back to Burbank after their honeymoon, leaving the regular cast at Chuck, Sarah, Casey, Morgan, Anna and Stephen(Orion) as a reg/recurring. But that last part is pure speculation on how they could cut the cast down. I'd personally suspect they'd cut Scott Bakula altogether at the opening of season 3. Adding him to the main cast just seems unlikely now. :(

Again most of that is just speculation. Keep your fingers crossed and remember to visit chucktv.net to be involved with the upcoming campaign to promote season 3 and bring in new viewers. If we can do that we can HOPEFULLY get a back nine and possibly some of the supporting characters we'll lose, back again. We should be ready to campaign for season four as well. The more prepared we are the more likely we'll be able to make a difference to the network and not have a repeat of the disastrous Jericho incident a couple years ago. When the fans fought for their show, got it and no one else watched it.

Chuck then Dollhouse works for me. I think FOX is stupid to put two sitcoms on as a lead-in to Dollhouse.

I look forward to the return of Chuck, but am bummed that we have to wait until March 2010 for it's return.....but,we can always hope that one of their new shows crashes and burns, or the stupid decision to have Leno on Monday-Friday at 10 will turn out badly, and Chuck will have an earlier return.
