I finally entered the 21st century and got a lovely little LG phone today which can do MIDI, MP3 and (they say) "full music" ringtones!! WOO HOO!!! Now the problem...I tried the old source(s) listed to download the Firefly theme as a ringtone, and none are working OR they've gone to a pay site and I'm not keen on that unless they can guarantee that my phone will work with their service.
So...does anyone know of a site hosting a fine quality Firefly ringtone (or one I can send a file to - I have the MIDI) so I can up load to my LG phone? It seems to be a new and improved model; I had no trouble downloading graphic files from another site...OH! Does anyone have Serenity on their phone? Can I have it, please, please, pretty please???

If someone had a page where they could host it, I could offer the full version of the song that I have on my phone, an LG VX6000. It's the actual song, lyrics and all. Either that, or if you're interested I could possibly email it to you.

Hi, it would be great to have the actual theme song on my phone, sadly I am a few months away from that upgrade. so, your lg vx6000 plays the real tone. I've been thinking about geting the Kyocera KX2 which one is the better phone? did you just down load it onto the phone directly?
are you asking money for the tone, if so how much?

I can't really tell you which is the better phone for sure, because I've never had the Kyocera. All I really can tell you is anyone that I've known that has had a Kyocera hasn't had any luck with them at all. I would honestly advise you to get the LG 6000, if you're debating between the two
As for the ringtone, I simply used a USB cable, which you can get on eBay for around $20, to download it to my phone. If you want me to e-mail it to you, just let me know. And no, no money, it was real simple to do once I learned how

Thanks for the ringtone, now all i need is the phone and USB cable. Oh well, what's a few more months of waiting? Thanks again for the help.
I hope to get an LG VX 6100, I hope it works, Thanks again for the file even if it doesn't work for me, I'll keep trying 'til it does.

I finally got a new phone, which all sales reps assure me will download the tone, i'm just a little fuzzy on how to do it. I love the tone on my computer! Now, I just need to transfer it to my new phone, a LG 6100. I'd like to know how you did it so I don't screw it up. Do I need GetItNow!, or do I just transfer the tone?
P.S. you are a genius!

You should be able to do it by downloading a program called BitPim from http://www.bitpim.org/
I'm not positive if it's compatible with the 6100, but I think that it is. The program itself is fairly self explanatory. Just hook your phone up to the computer with a USB cable, and then use BitPim to transfer it. If you have any questions, just let me know and I'll see if I can help. Good luck!

I trouble shot and solved my problems, Thank you for everything you have done, but in the end I just made a memo and saved it as the tone. It's not as clear but it works. I may download it again later, but for now "I'm Shiny Cap'n, A-Okay."

If you want to convert an mp3 to a ringtone, go to this site:
http://www.mobile17.com
I've tried it, and it works great. I have the Firefly theme on my phone. Everything on the site is free. The guy who runs it asks for a donation, but it's not necessary.
The easiest way to get the ringtone is to upload the mp3 (the website handles the conversion) and have it sent to your phone as a link in a text message. The only thing you have to pay for is whatever your service provider charges you for the time spent downloading the file over the net.

thanks for the response, your idea might have worked if the file was in MP3 format, sadly, the file was in MIDI, which would have worked if the file weren't as large as it is(54 kilobytes). All is well though, I just used the memo feature to record the song. Now, everytime my phone rings I hear that glorious song. it was well worth the 50 seconds of memo time spent. though, I may try to download it again later and free up the memo space. The file just needs to be compressed, but I don't have the software to do it.
Also, I don't think my phone can download MP3's.
