What do ya think SECOND? To an extraterrestrial, we are extraterrestrials.

Terra = Earth. 3rd Planet orbiting Sol. 3rd Rock From the Sun.
Extraterrestrial = Not From Earth.
So you conjure that Aliens must think that Earth-bound Humans are Not From Earth.
You such a genius.

My own feeling is that the primary reason we've found no undeniable evidence is that we simply haven't been looking for long enough. We haven't found anything conclusive yet. We've only had the tech to do so for a hundred-odd years, which in cosmic terms is the blink of an eye.
We might be too late: any nearby civilisations might've destroyed themselves or each other by now, but they might be/have been, say, 300 light-years away, in which case we'd have to wait a while to see what happened.
They might not want us to know about them, shades of the Prime Directive. They might think we're not ready. They may be right.
They might have developed tight-beam and fibre-optic communications centuries ago, so they no longer broadcast openly as we still do - and we've missed their broadcasts as a result.
It's even possible that we have picked up something and simply failed to recognise it for what it was. We still don't know what the 'Wow!' signal was.
Fermi suffered from a distressing failure of imagination IMO. There could be any number of reasons we haven't found anything.
The least likely reason, though, is that we are alone. The Principle of Mediocrity seems to me a perfectly reasonable idea.

To cut to the chase, Robin is trying to explain the famous Fermi Paradox: why, after 60+ years of looking, and despite the periodic excitement around Tabby’s star and ‘Oumuamua and the like, have we not seen a single undisputed sign of an extraterrestrial civilization? Why all this nothing, even though the observable universe is vast, even though (as we now know) organic molecules and planets in Goldilocks zones are everywhere, and even though there have been billions of years for aliens someplace to get a technological head start on us, expanding across a galaxy to the point where they’re easily seen?
Robin proposes, plausibly I think, that if you give a technological civilization 10 million or so years — i.e., an eyeblink on cosmological timescales — then either
1) the civilization wipes itself out, or else
2) it reaches some relatively quiet steady state, or else
3) if it’s serious about spreading widely, then it “maxes out” the technology with which to do so, approaching the limits set by physical law.
In cases 1 or 2, the civilization will of course be hard for us to detect, unless it happens to be close by. But what about case 3? There, Robin says, the “civilization” should look from the outside like a sphere expanding at nearly the speed of light, transforming everything in its path.
Every direction is far more than even that foretold in Firefly, which was one direction. Earth is not even able to monitor in every direction even the minimal distance to detect Earth impact objects, enough to know in advancewhat will hit us.
The further distance we look out, the search area is cubed. Even if we are an overpopulated planet, expansion whittles down our density real fast.

Forgive me if this has been pointed out before; consider this. When you look into the night sky you are looking into the past. Some of the starlight we see is billions of light years old because it has taken that long to reach us. It works both ways.

And you are so dumb. What you suggest is that there is no comparable concept in our entire Universe. How you would you know this?
I would add; check out the multi verse theory, string theory. You’ll learn Astrophysicists believe it is possible Terra = Earth may exist in many other dimensions. You should be embarrassed by your unenlightened post rappy.

So you are saying that there are many planets in the universe which are named "Earth" or "Terra" then? Obviously that is the most obvious answer.

I suspect there are many folk who would disagree with you that there are no other sentient beings in the universe besides residents of Earth.
No new Life.
No new civilizations.

Quote:I would not call this a "solution" to Where are the Extraterrestrial Civilizations. This so-called "solution" is: Assuming Extraterrestrials behave as humans do, they are doomed before their civilization gets large enough to be seen by humans on Earth. As expressed by Albert Einstein: “The splitting of the atom has changed everything bar man’s way of thinking and thus we drift into unparalleled catastrophes.”

They began by studying how human civilizations rose and fell throughout history. Next, they studied the history of large cities, and there, too, they noticed that most grew to a certain point and then collapsed. They developed a hypothesis that suggested such rising and falling by alien space civilizations would lead to one of two scenarios. In the first, the civilization would come to realize they were growing too large and would cease traveling to or colonizing other worlds. In the second, they would not recognize their folly and would therefore collapse. From our perspective, both scenarios would have the same outcome—the aliens would not visit us, or even demonstrate evidence of their existence. The distance from them to us would be too far.
The researchers describe their hypothesis as superlinear scaling—where a civilization grows exponentially, colonizing other worlds until they became unable to sustain the energy demands of their constant encroachment. Eventually, if they did not take action, they would reach a singularity—a point of no return, at which they could not save their civilization from collapse. They note that were it not for the vast distances involved, we would likely easily spot evidence of an alien civilization on the point of collapse because it would be emitting enormous amounts of energy.

Was there an advanced civilization on Earth before humans?
Many scientists have long wondered: Is there intelligent life out in the deep reaches of space? But climate scientist Gavin Schmidt and astrophysicist Adam Frank have a different question: Was there intelligent life in the deep reaches of Earth’s history? Could we find evidence of an advanced non-human civilization that lived perhaps hundreds of millions of years ago, buried in Earth’s crust?
At the heart of it, Schmidt and Frank are asking: How likely is an intelligent life form on any planet — here or in the deepest reaches of space — to leave a mark, a sign that they existed? And for that matter: Hundreds of millions of years from now, will some alien explorers landing on Earth be able to find traces of humans if we’re long, long gone?

Abstract
If an industrial civilization had existed on Earth many millions of years prior to our own era, what traces would it have left and would they be detectable today? We summarize the likely geological fingerprint of the Anthropocene, and demonstrate that while clear, it will not differ greatly in many respects from other known events in the geological record. We then propose tests that could plausibly distinguish an industrial cause from an otherwise naturally occurring climate event.
