Couldn't resist checking out this thread, eh? Well, I'm glad you did, and here goes:

PART I:
If you were stranded on a deserted island (I TOLD you it was cheesy!), and was allowed only 1 Firefly regular cast member to accompany you, who would it be?? Now, before you choose the hottest actor or actress, keep in mind that the object is SURVIVAL. Consider your own survival instincts before you look at the characters. Who would compliment your abilities best? Who could you get along with on a 24, 7 basis? Let's have fun with this!

PART I:
Survival...I guess I'd vote for Zoe. She has all the leadership qualities as Mal, but she also has some medical knowledge. I, on the other hand, am worthless in all survival aspects, and would basically take on the role as student. I also think we'd get along just fine. I would miss male companionship, and would most likely rue my decision, but at least I'd be alive a long time to rue it!

Survival: Zoe -- just seems like she'd be better at the whole hunting thing than mal plus seems to have less habit of getting hurt (explosions not withstanding).

Pleasure: Wash -- while mal would be shiny, he might get all broody and depressed. Wash is always chipper and if he got to talkative, well i can shut him up.

Survivial I lean towards Jayne also, I'm not so good with the hunting and killing things in order to eat them thing, plus I'd want a big strong guy to build the shelter while I sat back and gave orders...but then I rather suspect he'd expect me to cook if he did all the other stuff and I'd probably end up killing us...LOL

For Survival: I'd probably go with Zoe, for reasons given (survival instincts, medical knowledge etc.) Plus, she's hot.

For Pleasure: Kaylee. Much as Zoe is hot, Kaylee would be the one I'd die happy with.

Hmm, Zoe sounds like a good choice for the survival thing. Limited medical training for the field, excellent survival training and big gun and knife for hunting. Yep, she'd be a good choice.

Secretly I would be slightly terrified of her and her harsh fitness training regime in getting me into shape for surviving on this remote island, but hey, this is about surviving!

For fun I would have to call on Kaylee. I'm sure we'd survive, if only by using Kaylee's winning smile and basket of strawberries to lure passing sailors onto the rocks, smashing their brains in and then stealing their boats. And, y'know, I'd love to dance with Kaylee.

Mozzerella!! Oh, not a REAL cheese poll. I gotcha. Hmmmmm. Well, Mal for the pleasure of it all, definitely. I could make him the cutest little loincloth made of leaves!

For the survival? I hate to say Mal for this too, but I think I gotta. He'd act all big-n-strong-protector-y, but I'd kick his ass into shape in no time.

(But if we WERE voting for real cheese, I'd go with the mozzerella for survival and brie for the pleasure. And some crackers and red wine.)

Survival: River. No, wait, listen! She's the best shot in the crew. Stuck on an island, I'm assuming we have a gun, but only a limited amount of ammunition. Every shot must count. Therefore, River. The other stuff, like building shelter, I can do my own self.

Survival: Zoe. Cooking is about the only thing I can do, and she doesn't seem to like doing it.

Pleasure: Ooooh so hard!!!! Auuugh! I'm torn between Mal and Wash. Zoe would certainly be happier if I brought Wash, but where would that leave me?! So, I guess I'd have to go with Mal, although it's still a tough choice!

Practical choice: Simon because I am handy at almost everything I would need to do except for setting a broken leg, etc. I think I could even get used to the way he always says the wrong thing.

Pleasurable choice: Wash because he's funny and (after I build the fire) he can do shadow puppets to entertain us. Jayne is more attractive to me than Wash, but Zoe looked awfully happy.

I didn't realize how difficult this question would be to answer until I tried to answer it!

Survival: Mal - he seems to be pretty well rounded when it comes to survival - he can fight, he has basic med skills, hopefully he can cook. Which is good because I have zero survival skills whatsoever. The only problem might be agreeability (This is where Simon almost won out - that and he is a doctor). But if we're on a deserted island than there is no Alliance. And that should make Mal pretty happy and easygoing.

Pleasure: Why do I have to choose btw Mal and Simon!!!!! I'm gonna go with Simon. Mmmm...

Wow, I love cheesy polls and this was a hard one.

Let's see... for number one it was going to be a toss up between Zoe and Mal. As I am a tall redhead from Texas that is of the female gender and I have pretty good survival skills myself I would just want someone to share the load, I also tend to want to be alpha over other females. Guess that counts Zoe out. We'd kill each other. Although, I would respect her mightly for as long as we both were breathing.

It really depends, if survival was part of the academy training, then definitly Inara; however, if it isn't, I would choose River. Have we forgotted that she a crazy little genius that is in posession of "a lot" of random knowlege? I mean sure she might stab me with a knife, but I think I'll live.

as for part II, hmm... purely pleasure speaking, I would have to say Inara. The whole companion thing really does it for me.

with all the companion training i'm pretty sure that inara wouldn't be useless in a survival situation, and as there was no mention of reevers being around there's no requirement for mal/zoe/jayne's muscle. and we're talking survival here, so we'd need to get to work at repopulating the island ;)

She's tough, confident, has medical training and survival skills. She also takes care of people who aren't incredibly stupid (see THE MESSAGE). As I find here sexier than Mal, I choose her over him. I would not choose Jayne as he would slit my throat for the last coconut.

Okay here's how it is...I'm getting ready to go back to AZ and stuff so that among other things has kept me busy. Well that and me being as brilliant as a very non-brilliant thing getting a new puppy hasn't been helping my surf'n time either. But this thread was brought to my attention, so I had to ride on in to say heya.

Anyhow, hey y'all, I still think shiny thoughts about ya and all but with the busy thing don't often have time to check in like I used to. But I will once the moving and arranging and all is done, so frett not I'll be back! Creepifying notion huh?

I'd want Wash for both reasons. I think we saw in "War Stories" that when the chips are down, he can hack it. He's got some engineering skills, so we could construct a crude plane out of tree limbs and he could fly us away. Plus, could he be more fun to have around?
