What do you guys and gals think so far?

Personally, I was skeptical, but I wanted to believe. :)

THREE REASONS WHY SEASON 10 OF THE X-FILES IS GREAT

1. It's not a "re-boot". Nothing was forgotten of the past of X-Files. Same main Characters. In only a few episodes, they've touched on some of the most important things we remember from the 90's and even acknowledge how different things are so many years later after 9/11. Cancer Man even makes a comeback, and this time he smokes through his throat!

2. After watching the First Episode, you would be forgiven for thinking that these six episodes were going to be an encapsulated arc that the first story set the pace for. You would be wrong. Just like The X-Files always did, they excell in the one-off episodes that have nothing at all to do with the main story line. Some of the VERY BEST of those shows being the comedic ones.

3. Episode 10-3: "Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster"

This is the funniest episode of the X-Files I have ever seen, and I'll be the first to admit that it takes quite a bit more to make me laugh than it did back in the 90's. (And yes, this episode was funnier than The Hangover was when everyone was raving about it)

I have no clue where they found Rhys Darby to play "Guy Mann", and if what we find about him in the episode is true we won't see him again, but if there were a SINGLE REASON we're going to see more X-Files in the Future, THIS EPISODE IS IT!

This shows me that They're "all in"...

Sure, Season 10 is only 6 episodes long, but if they were only doing a one-time stunt here, surely they would have just done a very serious 6 episode arc off of the first ep, wouldn't they?

The first episode changed the entire game.

The second episode, honestly was almost entirely forgettable.

The third episode was the funniest episode they ever made.

The fourth episode seemed to be just another "freak of the weak" episode until something terrible rocks Scully's personal life.

I think maybe what everyone needed was 15 years away from the X-Files. The writers, the actors and the fans.

I don't know about you, but I'm back on board and I hope they make another few longer seasons.

I believe if the ratings are what they hoped that this will be the case. I can't believe they'd do these freak of the week eps if they really believed they only had 6 episodes to tell the new story the painted in the first episode.

X-Files is all about secrets, but why do the good-guys always, Always, ALWAYS have to be as unthinkingly secretive as the bad-guys?

Wow! And Mulder gets to see it and talk to the humans that built it. Hurray for Mulder! If Scully had been there she'd ask, "Where are the scientific papers about ARV?" Nowhere. It is a secret.

Soon all hope is lost. The good-guys wait around until the bad-guys discover that the good-guys know the Alien secrets, too! Then everybody who saw the ARV dies, except Mulder, the last good-guy standing. Hurray for Mulder! Dana Scully doesn’t die because she saw nothing and what she knows is useless. It must be frustrating for Scully.

The only way to completely stop the bad-guys (who want to keep a monopoly on Alien Technology) would be for the good-guys to make the Tech NOT A SECRET and end the monopoly. I'm apparently one of the few people who considers their satiric episodes among the worst of the original series, so this new Ep. 3 was also not a favorite. I can see what they are doing, making these six a mix of story type just as they did originally, but it was not what I was hoping for when I heard it was coming back, and I don't care if we never see any more after this.

But you haven't seen episode 6, which will utterly change your life! The storyline for the final episode is "Mulder and Scully uncover a shocking truth with global ramifications."

There will be no ramifications because X-Files showrunner Chris Carter has no ideas. He wants to wrap it up and get back to his Malibu home and watch the waves break on his beach.

The two paint-huffing stoners (Tyler Labine and Nicole Parker Smith) in the teaser sequence previously appeared in a pair of season-three X-Files episodes: "War of the Coprophages" (also written by Morgan) and "Quagmire" (which Morgan did an uncredited rewrite on). "Do you ever think life is so amazing," one of them asks, "that maybe we shouldn't waste it by getting high all the time?" And more paint-huffing ensues. It's nice to see that, much like Mulder and Scully, time hasn't changed the two of them that much.

That's actually an AWESOME pick-up on your part Mutt. There's no way I would have remembered either of them from an episode 10 years back.

I did recognize Tyler Labine from a Hulu original show called "Deadbeat" though. It's like Ghost Whisperer except you got a 35 year old burnout talking to ghosts instead of JLH's boobies.

I'm still waiting on that third season. I hope his paint huffing on X-Files doesn't get in the way of filming it. :)

Honestly, dude has seriously been pigeon-holed. He could easily have been playing his character from Deadbeat on ep 3.

Honestly ecgordon,

I wasn't a regular watcher of the show when it came out after the first 2 or 3 years. It wasn't until about 5 or 6 years ago that I binge watched the entire show in a few months and I really wasn't a fan of the humorous episodes... I wasn't much of a fan of any of the non humorous one-off episodes either.

Me and my Dad usually agree on almost anything when it comes to movies and TV shows, but when I told him that X-Files should have been only about 4 seasons long and just the main arching story he argued that point with me. He loved the "freak of the week" episodes, especially the ones that were funny. One that had something to do with Cher comes to my mind as his favorite.

I guess that's just part of how I changed 15 years later...

I wasn't expecting anything at all with the new season, I'm so jaded. That first episode was great, and although the other 3 since haven't matched up to it, at least episode 3 was truly funny.

C'mon... that soft-core scene with Scully didn't make you roll?

They've used up 4 of their 6 episodes and haven't come close to doing anything responsible with the knowledge they now possess yet. Skinner re-opened the X-Files 15 years later so Mulder and Scully could meet the Were-Lizard, or go dumpster diving in the Ghetto with Mr. Trash???

Don't be such a dick. Have fun with it. I think after a 15 year break everyone involved in the show is ready to have fun again. :)
