This is from the UK, but not the BBC? Just checked and it is Channel 4, although I'm assuming that does not mean BBC-4 if there is such a thing.
Anyway, it's about "synths," android servants that everyone seems to have accepted into everyday life. Maids and nannies, general work population, even prostitution. However, there are a few synths who either have design faults that allow them to have emotions and ambitions beyond their programming, or else they have been hacked to get to that point. So a general look at what it means to be human, how mankind might react to such a breakthrough, plus yet another segment of society that can either be embraced or subjugated. Lots of room for great social discourse.
The pilot episode just repeated on AMC as I type this, plus it will be on again at 2am, then again Sat night/Sun morning at midnight, again at 9am Sun morning, with the second episode at 8pm Sunday night. NOTE: all times are US CENTRAL, adjust that for wherever you are and what feed your cable or satellite provider uses.

Have you seen Automata? If so, how do you think they compare?

All the same social dilemmas as in Battlestar Galactica. I thought they handled that brilliantly.

I actually kind of enjoyed the pilot, but I have yet to see the second installment. The main synth (the actress) is rather good, the other actors are passable. I'm taking a wait and see attitude toward Humans. So far I find it intriguing.

I am now caught up to the current episode, No. 5, and I really like this show and what it has to offer. It reminds me of AI, with the same actor playing the good doctor, William Hurt.
Overall the acting, as I stated earlier is passable, but there are a couple of standouts - the teenage daughter and "Anita." The pace is somewhat European (very few quick cuts) meaning that it is somewhat deliberate. The transitions could be a bit neater, but this show has enough going for it that it piques my interest.

I'm watching DVD of Humans 2.0, which seems to be season 2.
I haven't seen any letdown in the acting.
Pretty interesting, I should also look for season 1.

Quote:I am finding Season 1 riveting. Waiting a week between episodes seems a deprivation.

After season 2, I found the first half of season 1 to be even better. The latter part of S1 seemed to devolve into calamity of errors cliche, but still good.
It's not likely I would have watched Humans if I had not already viewed this thread.

Gemma Chan will be on Jimmy tonight, pushing Captain Marvel likely.
I didn't know she had her Law Degree before deciding on acting.
