Turkey fails to assist Kurds in Syria, watches as Kobani burns

This article was sent to me and explains very nicely why Turkey is sitting on its hands even though ISIS is right at its doorstep. According to the analyst, Brahma Chellaney,

This explains the violent Kurdish protests (read: riots) in Turkey. Until recently, Kurds had an active military and political separatist movement. Failure by President Erdogan to assist Kurds in northeastern Syria (right on Turkey's border) may re-ignite the Kurdish military aspect.

It also is one more piece of evidence that Turkey has been an active partner in developing ISIS, because it has been busy funneling Saudi- and Qatari-funded arms to jihadists in Syria. That's in addition to leaked recordings of Turkey's top military command planning a false-flag operation from over the Syrian border in order to provide a "reason" for Turkey to attack Syria.

So ISIS, like al Qaida, was created by Saudi Arabia. Unlike al Qaida, ISIS was also supplied by Qatar, with Turkey's assistance and the tacit (and sometimes active) approval of the USA, especially in the gun-running operations from Libya.

Regime change in Syria seems to be on the Saudi's mind as well. There are persistent reports that the USA has had to promise something to Riyadh for the Saudi's (lackluster, limited) participation in the anti-ISIS coalition.

In effect, the USA and its coalition is fighting itself when its fighting ISIS. Because although the USA and its coalition would seem to be fighting ISIS, the reality is that ISIS is a useful tool for taking part of Iraq out from Iran's control, and for providing the USA and its partners a wedge into Syria to effect the final goal of removing Assad (allied with Iran and Russia) from power. For me, it's still an open question as to how vigorously the USA intends to pursue ISIS, because we have a history of fighting only SOME terrorists, but not others.

This wouldn't be the first time that the USA used jihadists to attain some "greater" geopolitical goal. After all, didn't we use jihadists in Afghanistan and Libya to achieve success? And look how well it worked out for them! And for us!

Death toll in Turkish anti-ISIS unrest reaches 31

At least 31 people have been killed and 360 wounded in four days of protests over the fate of the Kurdish town of Kobani assaulted by the Islamic State jihadists in Syria, according to the interior minister Efkan Ala. Among those killed, the minister confirmed the death of two policemen in the city of Bingol. Some 1,024 protesters were detained in protests that affected 35 Turkish provinces.

HAHAHAHA! President MIA seems to have taken his hands off the steering wheel.

I DO have to wonder what the policy is. That fact that Turkey has not stepped into the fray means that the USA has not offered any assurances that the Syrian government will be replaced. That kind of indicates to me that the USA and Saudi Arabia themselves have not come to the same agreement. So the State Department/ Pentagon/ CIA seem reluctant to commit to "regime change in Syria", and our sometimes allies in the ME are only nominally "fighting ISIS" ... providing a fig leaf, really, since only Saudi Arabia has actually dropped some bombs ... reluctantly, with mixed motives at best.

What I heard ... and it was an interesting perspective... is that the USA has gotten itself in the middle of a civil war between Sunnis and Shias. That until/ unless the two sects sort themselves out, there will be constant warfare between the two of them.

Would this be the war that's been going on since WWII? Or WWI? Or for centuries? Or for millenia?

I am shocked, just shocked, I say, that Obammy didn't get the Breaking News that this has been going on, nor the Intelligence Briefing which followed that.

Our so-called allies (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, UAE etc) in the Mideast really don't want to fight ISIS because it's their creation and they share ISIS' objectives. While it might look like a "bull's eye" to you, unless someone strikes it all of that concentration of jihadism isn't in our favor. And unless there are boots on the ground, ISIS will not be defeated.

Also, your particular map concentrates on Syria, but ignores the vast central swath of Iraq, Why?
