I don't even know what to think about this one...They even have a group named "The Red Shirts"

Somehow I think a One-Fingered Salute would be more fun?

I actually hate the Hunger Games books. They're party approved mass-produced "subversive" material. Stuff you give to the population so they think they're all edgy and rebellious but really they're wasting their time on pop culture nonsense.

But, if people in Thailand want to legitimately do something and take some inspiration from it, I guess that's okay.

I agree, Faux-subversive contrived nonsense, but I'm sure people said the same thing about 1984, or F 451, so who knows...
Always nice to see people bond over a book or a movie anyways

To ME. Hunger games is like Logan's Run; high concept, but Hollywood production.

Idea: What's missing in Logan's Run?

The hidden 1% who live forever.

... oooOO}{OOooo ...
Part of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at.

The Domes were filled with 1% descendents.

Then what was the rationale for having them live only 30 years?
(I din't read the book & wouldn't remember it by now anyway.)

P.S. Wiki: Logan's Run is a novel by William F. Nolan and George
Clayton Johnson. Published in 1967, it depicts a dystopic ageist
future society in which both population and the consumption of
resources are maintained in equilibrium by requiring the death of
everyone reaching a particular age.

You want some REALLY subversive Sci-Fi ?
Acts of Caine, hands down, particularly the first book and ESPECIALLY the second, as the rest are a setup to an unbelievably epic Faustian Rebellion.
http://www.goodreads.com/series/53770-the-acts-of-caine

Admittedly my favorite is actually Caine Black Knife as it's twin storyline deals with his "Glory Days" of being younger, badder, and nigh unto invincible (ah the fallacies of youth) and current days of being old and broken but still ready to rumble, and old enough to know better but still jussssst enough of a prick to still do shit.
One can imagine a certain solidarity there, I am sure.

Also, oddly enough, a videogame - Spec Ops: The Line.
(which SHOULD be subtitled Leave Well The Hell Enough ALONE You Moron )
I was actually kind of impressed by it's intended message given how offended/ignorant the "audience" was gonna be about it.

What are the "Hunger Games"?

They don't sound like much fun.

I can't get into Gears of War, but chances are by the end of the week Imma play at least one game of Ms. Pac Man. ;)

Do Right, Be Right. :)
