Who here has gone Blu Ray?

I've been Blu-Ray since PS3 came out. You're right, the colors are deeper and richer, at times you can count the stubble on an actor's face. The sound quality sometimes doesn't quite reach up to it's full potential, butthat could be due to my TV (which has surround sound).

Still though it's pretty awesome watching my Blu-ray collection. By the way, DVDs get upgraded automatically. From what I've read, Sony makes the best in the business.

I agree, the cable and streaming services will be in control of content and they'll twist the screws to squeeze out more money from us. Besides, I'm also a movie fan and nothings beats having your own copy of classics and the like.

Plasma is good, supposedly it will burn out faster than LCD. 1080P is the highest, and there's also how many Hz (Hertz) 60Hz is standard and the level used by Broadcast TV. Some TV sets have 120Hz and 240Hz.

Wait, let me tell you that 720P is pretty damn good. The P is for progressive. 720P performs at 60 frames per second, it is better for showing pictures with plenty of motion - action movies and sports. Of course 1080P is top of the line.

Plasma was once the gold standard, but LCD TVs have made improvements by leaps and bounds. The size of the TV screen depends upon the size of the room it's in. I have a 42" TV in my living room, which is 20 x 12, it's a perfect fit. You also need to sit no closer than 5-9 feet in front of the screen for the best viewing.

For a 720P at 48" you should sit no closer than 9' to get the best view.
You can find viewing distances on the internet, it's called TV viewing distance calculator. Hope that helps.

OK. I don't know what that means. I bought my plasma a few years ago because plasma is on the way out and it was pretty damned cheap for a big screen. I forget how big. 48"? Big enough, it ought to be, though with blu-ray I find myself wanting a bigger screen.
