Haven't thought about Boonie Bears or Article 20 for a while now since I've only been paying attention to the top 10 this year.
No. Successor wasn't new. It was one of the "3 Chinese Movies" I've been referring to for a while.
It looks like Successor been out in China since July and in Australia and New Zealand on the 1st of August. It did just get released in Russia on November 14th. I don't expect it to really get any more from China, Australia or New Zealand since they've been out for months now, but there currently is ZERO income from Russia for the last 2 weeks. I wonder if Russia will bring an impactful amount here. Australia and New Zealand didn't, not even making 3/4 of a Million.
As an important aside, I wasn't even paying attention to The Wild Robot. It is tragic that it appears to have just run completely out of gas because it has dethroned all of the Chinese movies except for YOLO, and it is currently only $3.5 Million shy of bumping it out of 7th place. Wild Robot only made $670k in the US this weekend, so unless there's a ton of international money that hasn't been reported yet, that's one less opportunity that Hollywood had to box China out of the Top 10.
So the entire game has already changed here. If Venom somehow can make $1.5 Million more and take 9th place from Successor and the Russian money doesn't prevent that from happening, we now only have one Chinese movie on the Top 10 once Moana2 makes most of the current Top 10 move down a spot. Even if it can't, because of both Venom and Wild Robot, it's impossible to end up with 3 movies on the Top 10 unless they have another half billion movie yet to be released between now and December 31st. And even if that happens China only gets 3 if Successor can hang on by the skin of its teeth.

I think its still a big change if China gets 1 or 2 in the Top10 with the rest fighting to stay in or Hollywood fighting to push them out
